Foxgreen Farm’s Story

I’m Tom and I’m Larry’s dad. We have very different backgrounds and are trying to make a farm, and a difference in Howland, Maine.

I have always tried to “Be the change you wish to see in the world.” It was years after I heard that phrase, I found out it originates from Gandhi. I grew up in Massachusetts, went to college in Louisiana and worked since 13 years old. My first job was at a fruit and produce company. Even though I spent 27 years working for the US Government, it is interesting I’m right back to the fruit and produce business. I guess you can never underestimate childhood influences.

Larry is just about to turn 18 years old. I didn’t know him until he was 15. His life, it is safe to say, wasn’t one which anyone would choose while growing up. That makes navigating the rest of the teenage years a risky business. We adopted each other 2 years ago. Larry likes the farm and everything that goes with it. He has, right along, discovered new things and experiences. He is growing up and learning new things every day.

We hope to improve this business. Currently we sell vegetables, some fruits (more on the way), preserved items from the farm, eggs, and nursery plants at www.jiovi.com. We are also moving into pastured meats. That’s the business side of the business.
