We will have fresh free-range eggs this week at the Farm Story Meats booth at the Ames Main Street Farmers' Market on Saturday 8-12:30pm! The eggs are only $5/dozen which is very price competitive to grocery stores. They go fast, so get there early!

What is pasture-raised anyway?

A pasture-raised chicken is one that has been allowed to roam free in a pasture. It eats seeds, insects, and earthworms found in the field and spends all of its time on grass, out in fresh air and sunshine. Our laying hens wander around the farm and spend the evenings in coops for safety. Our meat birds live in an open air moving pen to keep them safe from predators.
