Rockridge Dorpers

The dorper is a very resilient breed able to adapt to many environments and climates. The breed was created in South Africa by crossing Dorset Horn and Blackhead Persian sheep, hence the name “dorper”. They are characterized by a black head and are mainly bred for their meat and thick skin, which is the most sought-after sheepskin in the world. This is the reason we decided to establish and uplift this breed in the Northeast as they adapt to our climate very well and are fast-growing. We are aiming to become a world-class Dorper breeding facility by keeping our sheep grass-fed and pasture raised.
