New West Coast IPAs - yes, plural! 🐻🌲
We’ve been tinkering with West Coast IPA approaches and recipes all year long - experimenting with different levels of maltiness, adjusting the bitterness, and introducing modern hops to those classic American citrus and pine-forward hops. These next versions really bridge the gap between classic West Coast IPAs and modern versions.
First up is the second iteration of VOLUME 4 - a modern West Coast IPA that has just enough malty sweetness to harken back to old school WCIPAs. It’s brewed with a bouquet of essential west coast hops - Nugget, Cascade, Centennial, and Simcoe - plus a dry hop Citra, Enigma, and Centennial. The resulting b**r is piney, citrusy, and resinous, with added layers of cantaloupe, white grape, and tropical fruit. It finishes light, slightly dry, and pleasantly bitter.
We’re also introducing VOLUME 5 - a truly modern West Coast IPA. It’s as pale and light as possible with a lively carbonation. Brewed with Centennial, Simcoe, Rakau, and Wai-Iti hops, the aroma is loaded with notes of apricot, white peach, and crisp apple with a subtle burst of sweet, resiny citrus. It finishes dry with a refreshing snap of bitterness.
