Good Morning!Just a little sweet POV: You catch momma mini donkey gently resting her head on her nursing foal and your heart instantly melts 😭❤️
Why does she do this?

It’s the sweetest combo of:
• Pure comfort & affection (that soft chin-to-chest cuddle says “I’ve got you, baby”)
• Protection — she’s keeping a watchful eye while her little one is vulnerable
• Deep bonding — donkeys are super physical and build unbreakable bonds through touch

Fun Donkey Fact: When playing, donkeys will often use their feet, which is sometimes mistaken for aggression but is actually a natural part of their play behavior. 🐴🐾
Baby mini donkeys, or foals, are highly energetic, affectionate, and curious, often standing within an hour of birth and engaging in playful behaviors like chasing, biting, and "donkey kicks" to bond with their herd and practice survival skills. 🦵💖 Known for their long ears and sweet, "squeaky" brays, they crave interaction with humans and can live for over 30–50 years. 👂😊

We love playing with the bonkies. Was checking for her teeth but Petunia still had none. 🦷🐴

Did you know that mini donkey born almost toothless, with their first set of 24 baby ("milk") teeth erupting within the first few weeks of life. 🍼🦷 These are gradually replaced by permanent adult teeth starting around 2.5 to 3 years old, with a full set of adult teeth typically present by age 5 and will need regular dental exams should start around 6 months old to check for caps, and annually thereafter, as their teeth continuously erupt and need to be checked for sharp points. 🐴🦷😊.

Time flies...This is Petunia when she was only 2 weeks old back in September last year. They sure do grow fast.

Did you know that mini donkeys have a gestation period of 11 to 14 months (average is 12 months) and typically produce only one foal at a time?

Foals usually weigh 18–25 lbs at birth, and within the hour are normally up and walking around. Mommas usually tend to foal (give birth) at night. We got lucky with our first 2 both came right around sunset and we were able to witness/,assist with both their deliveries. But best of all they were both fillies (girls).
