Family. It’s what keeps us going! Feel like is 114 out today, little bubba is out here helping me put wire on a chicken run!

It’s so hot out here our chickens are walking around with imaginary lat syndrome!

It’s with a heavy heart that we share the passing of our little girl that we just brought home not too long ago. We’re still trying to wrap our heads around this, we’re unsure of what happened and why she declined so fast. We are devastated to say the least.

In homesteading you go into it (most of the time) with the mindset of self sustainability, meaning we grow these animals to provide for us. But until they get to the age where they can provide for us, we make sure they all have the best life possible, we love on them, we play with them and care for them. So it still burns and still hurts when they go unexpectedly.

We will miss you pretty girl💔

Our button quail are starting to lay! Caught one of our girls laying her egg today🤩

Yay!! Our first egg from our button quail!!!

It’s always egg-citing to get the first egg from a new set of birds. Whether it be quail, chickens, ducks, etc.. It never fails to make us proud🥳

Soon we will have 60,000 or so new friends on the homestead!

Found one of our free ranging Olive Eggers in her nest that she’s built in this fine Florida weather!

We have been wondering for a while why she’s always on this side of the yard next to the quail barn all by herself, now we know why!💚

What a pain… removed one of the grow out cages so that we had more space between cages… chalk that up to things I don’t want to do again… taking existing water lines and modifying them was a PITA!! lol
