The bees have made it to the farm!

This morning we set up their area on the property, then headed south to go pick them up, we’re back home and so are they, they’re out there adjusting to their new chapter of life.

Here’s to an exciting new journey🐝🍯

Moving on with our homestead adventures… here I am at 9pm waxing bee frames before we get a bee nuc tomorrow! I know it’s late in the season but we live in hot Florida so why not?! We’re excited for 60,000 or so new friends on the homestead!

This rainy weather really makes you question your sanity as a homesteader. Makes you ask yourself questions like, “Why did I sign myself up for this?!”.

But in reality, once you slow down, you realize that it’s just as enjoyable, even in the rain, when you look around and see all of your animals. Especially the ones that LOVE the break from the heat, then it turns into just taking your time in the rain, taking in the beauty of all of your animals.

But seriously, before you commit to getting farm animals, make sure you’re prepared to work in any weather, because you won’t have a choice but to brave the conditions lol🤣

We love our boys around here! They are what keeps this homestead growing, we wouldn’t be here without them!

We here at Hail’s Quails & More are not prone to having the “green thumb” BUT we are not going to let that stop us from giving it a go! We have been inspired by all of Southern Biophilliac Farm & Garden’s gardening posts that we couldn’t help ourselves.

We took today to start this new venture and add some plants to our boxes! We have Habanero’s, Jalapeños, Butter Crunch Lettuce, Red Roselle,Aloe Vera, Papaya Trees, and Heirloom Tomatoes!

Fingers crossed we can keep them alive and thriving!!🤞🏼

NPIP bi-annual testing is complete! For anyone thinking about getting their flock tested we highly recommend it! It’s an easy process— nothing scary. We catch all the birds they complete blood draws and mouth swabs! We were petrified the first time we had them tested… purely because of the unknown. That is the number one reason we hear when asking if someone is NPIP tested. The unknown is scary and the worry is that you will have to put the whole flock down. STOP WORRYING AND DO IT!! Have questions? Leave them below and we will do our best to answer!
