Fair warning: don’t make one tray of Hog Candy bacon and expect it to last.
Coat thick-cut bacon with Hog Candy, then bake or smoke it until the seasoning caramelizes and the edges are where you want them. The same blend is right at home on pork belly burnt ends, wings, burgers, roasted sweet potatoes and even popcorn.
It’s a different kind of seasoning for Jack’s Blend, and I’m really happy with where it landed.

If garlic butter makes it better, First Strike Garlic Butter probably belongs on it.
I’ve been using this on meat, seafood, potatoes and vegetables. It brings plenty of flavor without turning a simple meal into a project.

New from Jack’s Blend: First Strike All-Purpose BBQ Seasoning.
I wanted a seasoning that could stand on its own but also work as the first layer of a bigger flavor build. That’s what First Strike became.
Start with it on steaks, burgers, chicken, pork or vegetables. Keep the cook simple, or follow it with another rub. Either way, you’re starting from a good place.

Hog Candy isn’t just another pork rub.

I made this one for more than BBQ. It’s great on the grill, but it works just as well for dinner on the stove or in the oven. Chicken, steak, seafood, potatoes and vegetables are all fair game.

Some seasonings are made for one specific cut of meat. First Strike isn’t one of them.
This is my new all-purpose blend for the grill, smoker and kitchen. It’s balanced enough to use on just about anything and bold enough that you’ll know it’s there.
If you like keeping one dependable seasoning within reach, this is probably the one you’ll empty first.

I made Hog Candy for the bites that disappear before they ever make it to the table.
Thick-cut candied bacon. Pork belly burnt ends. Bacon-wrapped appetizers. That’s where this maple-bacon seasoning really shows what it can do.

I’m not going to make garlic butter complicated.

First Strike got its name for a reason. It’s the first thing I reach for when I want a solid base of flavor without overthinking the cook.
Use it on its own, or lay it down first and build another Jack’s Blend rub over it. I’ve used it on beef, pork, chicken, burgers, potatoes and vegetables. It does exactly what I wanted it to do: adds bold flavor without getting in the way of the food.
