20 years of marriage didn’t happen because we had it figured out.
It happened because God held us together when everything else was trying to tear us apart.
Two polar opposite people with almost nothing in common, except the same commitment to keep going. To not become a statistic and prove it can work.
20 years is still hard. It is a daily commitment to work at it even when you want to walk away and throw in the towels. When 2 stubborn people it THEIR way instead of meeting halfway.
This is our testimony that marriage is harder work than farming, than raising 3 kids, than cancer, than accidents, deaths and financial struggles. It is proof that perseverance beats perfection. Real and authentic beats performative and manufactured.
Proof that at the center of it all, God can build a life out of two broken people who kept saying yes when the world told them no.
Matt said it best,”But absolutely none of this would have been possible without each other and our commitment to each other. Kelly has been as instrumental in my individual success as I have been in hers. And none of this would have been possible without God in our life, guiding us and blessing us.”

Our precious grandson, Colter, has been in the NICU for a week. Last night he had some set backs with his oxygen, and will not be able to come home before this storm. Please pray for healing. Pray for his parents, Nate and Haley, that they feel the love and the calm rush over them during this time. We know we served an amazing God who heals all and performs miracles. Colter’s Gigi and Grumps thank you.

Yesterday was a very proud day for myself and Matt. Our first grandchild, Colter Wayne Griggs was born yesterday afternoon. Not only that, but Colter also now shares a birthday with his aunt, Paige Griggs!
Please keep Colter, Nate, and Haley in your prayers as they begin this new journey. Colter could potentially be the 7th generation Griggs farmer, Gigi and Grumps are ready!!💙

The silence at 6pm on a Wednesday is not what I expected at this stage in my life.

This room used to be filled with children’s laughter. Arguments over who would get in the shower first. Wrestling matches in the floor. Boys jumping from one sofa to the next. A teenage girl cuddled up with a cat watching her favorite shows. A family playing super Mario kart on the Nintendo. Now, the silence is deafening.

Everyone would tell us, you can’t wait until they are out the house. Life gets so easy. You will have more time to yourself. I’m here to tell you, it’s depressing.

I spent my entire adult life raising children. They were my entire world. My life WAS those 3 kids. From volleyball practices, to the baseball fields, to school plays and functions, doctors visits, hospital stays, cooking and cleaning for them. 28 years of keeping them alive and raising decent human beings. Now 2 of the 3 have become adults themselves, with one 4 hours away and the other 30 mns. The lone child in the house having less than 2 years left, before he leaves as well.

This stage of life hurts my heart. I never understood what a “mid-life” crisis was until now. I miss the chaos. The arguing. The laughing. I miss the noise. I’m now learning to navigate the silence.

For all of you with young ones still in your home, please cherish the noise. The fights the arguing. But most importantly, the laughter and family time. It goes by so quick, you may miss it.

This farmer is made for 100+ degree, summer heat, tshirts and shorts. Not this 25 with windchills from the North Pole and 5 layers of clothing. Hey , us farmers could use a warm vaca with palm trees and a perfect margarita, send help!!!

Canola update 11.23.25

The freeze damages the leaves and was looking grim a week or so ago. Th you to our canola friends for chiming in. They have all sid it will look like “death and junk” until spring. We have had warmer temps and now she’s thriving!
