The man, the myth, the legend...

In 1933 Walter Hudgins drove to Francitas, Texas to see Manso for the first time. He was so impressed by the bull's type, conformation, size and disposition that he traded Mrs. Gayle five young bulls for Manso.

That same year he was put with his first breeding herd. His first calves were born the Fall of 1934... that is when Manso began proving himself as an excellent and very prolific sire!

Manso died in 1944 at the age of 17 years, at that time he had produced 316 offspring for the ranch.

Today it has been estimated that more than 90% of all cattle registered by the ABBA carry back to Manso.

We had the pleasure of hosting Agriculture students from Marcus Oldham College in Geelong, Australia! 🇦🇺🇺🇸

As part of their two-week tour through the Southern United States, we were honored to welcome these students to the J.D. Hudgins Ranch, share our story and history, and give them a glimpse into our operation and the Brahman industry.

One of our favorite parts of this industry is the opportunity to connect with the next generation of agriculture leaders from all across the world. We’re grateful they chose to spend some time with us!

This full-time, in-office position will play an important role in keeping our cattle records and registrations organized and up to date, including cattle registrations, transfers, DNA submissions, records, and inventory.
