Another beautiful farmstand season comes to a close and my heart is completely full. 🌾

What started as just an idea for growing fresh food to share with the community has truly become the highlight of our year, and that is entirely because of you. To everyone who stopped by for caramel rolls on a sunny Saturday, braved the rainy mornings for fresh bread, brought their kids in for cookies, or came to get eggs in a pinch—thank you. You aren’t just customers; you are our neighbors, our friends, and the very heartbeat of this stand.

Farming is hard work, but seeing both familiar and new faces every week makes every early morning and long hour worth it. Your support helps us keep doing what we love, and we are incredibly grateful for your business.

We are deeply welcoming this much-needed break from the non-stop baking, canning and harvesting. We’re looking forward to enjoying some rest, and will be diving headfirst into cheering on the girls in their fall and winter sports.🏀🤼‍♀️

From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for an unforgettable season. We will miss you over the winter months, but we can't wait to see you next year!

With love and gratitude,
Aimee & The Grose Family ❤️

Our LAST Farm Stand Clean of the Season! 🍂

My little helpers stepped up big time tonight to help finish our very last Wednesday night farm stand clean of the year! Every Wednesday before our open weekends, they join me to vacuum, dust, and get everything shining.

It is so bittersweet that the season is winding down, but we are incredibly excited for our Grand Closing Weekend!

🍇Orchard & Winemaking Update! 🍇

We are in the thick of orchard harvesting right now! Each of us is picking about a bucket of fruit per day, and the harvest is in full swing.

Currants, grapes, elderberries, and aronia berries have all been picked and processed, and now we’re going hard on the plums!

🍷 The w**emaking update:
• 5-gallon carboy of currant w**e racked
• 3-gallon carboy of grape w**e racked
• 5-gallon batch of aronia w**e started tonight
• Plum w**e coming up next!

Our goal is to finish picking plums this weekend, and then we should be able to tie a bow on the orchard harvest!

It’s been a busy season of picking, processing, and making the most of what our land has to offer. In addition to our regular jams and jellies, we’re looking forward to seeing how all this homemade w**e turns out!

From the kitchen counter to the table 🍗🤎 Nothing beats the smell of a homemade roasted chicken filling the kitchen and bringing everyone to the table. Simple, cozy, and so delicious!

Oven Roasted Chicken Recipe

Whole chicken (4-8lbs)
4Tbl Butter, room temp
Salt
Pepper
Garlic salt
Rosemary
Thyme
2-3Tbl olive oil
Potatoes (any type, we usually use baby reds and do about 20 small ones, quartered)
Vegetables (mix of carrots, celery, green beans, onion, etc cut in larger pieces or quarters)

1. Thaw bird completely, rinse and pat dry with towel.
2. Preheat oven to 425 degrees
3. Rub 2-4Tbl of butter over the bird, getting underneath the skin if able and inside the cavity.
4. Season well with salt, pepper, garlic salt, rosemary, thyme, or any other preferred seasoning.
5. Arrange a bed of potatoes and vegetables in bottom of pan (cast iron is preferred, but any pan will work), drizzle with olive oil and season as well with the same seasoning as above. We have done many different variations with this and really just use what we have on hand for types of potatoes and veggies!
6. Place seasoned chicken on top of veggies, breast side up.
7. Bake in oven at 425 degrees for 20 minutes
8. Reduce heat to 350 degrees and bake remaining time at 20 minutes per pound of chicken (example 6lb chicken would be about 120 minutes). Temp check to assure internal temp reaches 165 degrees. Larger birds may require another 15-30 minutes.
9. Remove from oven when done and let rest 10-15 minutes. Skin should be nice and crispy along with the glazed potatoes and veggies on the bottom!

*After we cook and eat our chicken, we always make homemade chicken stock with the carcass in the crockpot. It is an incredible way to truly use the chicken in as many forms as possible, and also fills up your cellar with extra chicken stock which we always use and love to have on hand!
