SOLD OUT of honey 'till May of 2026! Thank you everyone for another great season!

Throughout the winter months we are always asked why we do not have any honey to sell. The simple reason is because there are no flowers in bloom producing nectar in Central Pennsylvania to attract our honey bees during the winter months, so in turn we do not have any honey to harvest! We also do not resell honey from other locations/sources. Our advice to customers has always been that if your local beekeeper doesn't have any honey to sell over the winter, you're more than likely getting good old fashioned local honey. If your local beekeeper here in Central Pennsylvania has lots of honey in the middle of February, and it's cheap... as a customer you should probably question where that honey actually came from 😉🐝

We have been asked why we didn't enter our honey into the 2025 Huntingdon County Fair .

Last year we entered our honey into a few different classes, and received only one blue ribbon. We asked why we didn't receive any ribbons in the other classes because we entered the best of the best that we had. The judge told us that they didn't like jars with labels, that next year we should just enter jars without a label. Technically, according to the Huntingdon County Fair premium guide, entering honey without a label should disqualify an entry. Honey has to be "market-ready", and you cannot sell honey at a market without a label according to both the USDA and the Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture.

According to their premium guide, honey moisture content is also supposed to be below 18.6%. The judges do not test moisture content. We were told they don't even open the jars to taste or smell the honey. With that in mind, an unsavory character could hypothetically enter a mason jar of 10w30 motor oil and win Best of Show.

We just felt disheartened at all of the hard work that we put into previous entries— selecting the best of the best honey we that produced, making sure the jar was filled and weighed just right, making sure the label was straight, buying an expensive honey color grader to ensure we entered into the right color class.

DID YOU KNOW— the dates that are handwritten on top of our lids are actually the dates that we harvested and bottled that particular batch of honey. We are one of the few beekeepers out there who do this, and another small thing that makes us unique. You see, honey doesn't spoil or "go bad". When you buy honey in the grocery store, there is a good chance that honey you see sitting on the shelf could be a few years old. Even when buying local, you can never be sure how old that honey is. Our honey is fresh, local, and comb-to-jar, just as it should be. 🐝

We are usually the first in the area to harvest honey in the spring— we harvest our honey frames as the bees cap them throughout the season.
