If I could give every pregnant mom one piece of advice, it would be…

Build your baby registry for postpartum recovery, not just for the baby!

The tiny onesies are cute. Nursery decor is fun. But when you're deep in postpartum, recovering from birth, feeding a newborn, and surviving on broken sleep, none of those things will help you figure out how you’re going to feed yourself and recover!

One of the most overlooked postpartum essentials isn't a baby product at all, it's nourishing food. Whether you meal prep yourself, ask friends and family for freezer meals, organize a meal train, or add a postpartum meal delivery service to your registry, future you will be grateful.

That's why we created Restorative Roots: organic, nutrient-dense postpartum meals inspired by traditional postpartum practices and delivered right to your door.

What is ONE thing you registered for that you barely used... and ONE thing you wish you'd had more of postpartum?

I was not near this prepared for my first birth.
Nutritious meals are SO important postpartum for both Mama and Baby. 💛
It was unlikely I would have ample time to do this myself this year, so I am very grateful for .restorativeroots

Hot take: women’s wisdom was never actually lost… we just stopped passing it down in kitchens, gardens, and postpartum beds. 🌿

There’s something so grounding about remembering that nourishment can also look like herbs simmering on the stove, mineral-rich infusions in your mug, and traditions that supported women long before wellness trends existed.

From nettle for deep nourishment, to red raspberry leaf for uterine support, to lemon balm for calming the nervous system, these are some of the herbs that have been loved for generations through fertility, pregnancy, postpartum, and motherhood.

And no, you do not need an intense wellness routine to benefit from them. It's simply adding in:
a cup of tea
• a warm broth
• a handful of herbs added to a recipe
• slowing down enough to care for yourself too

Postpartum nourishment matters just as much as pregnancy nourishment. 🤍

Your body has done something incredible; growing, birthing, and now sustaining new life. Postpartum is a season of healing, replenishing, and rebuilding, not restriction. Mamas need warm, nourishing foods rich in protein, healthy fats, minerals, collagen, iron, and hydration to support recovery, hormone balance, milk supply, and energy levels.
Think:
✨ Bone broth soups
✨ Slow cooked meats
✨ Eggs & avocado
✨ Oats & nourishing snacks
✨ Warm rice bowls
✨ Electrolytes & mineral rich drinks
✨ Healing herbs and comforting meals made with intention

So often moms are cared for during pregnancy, but forgotten once baby arrives. Postpartum support matters. Nourishing your body is not a luxury ,it’s part of healing.

Having some healing meals from .restorativeroots delivered right to my door has been such a gift while recovering, breastfeeding, and caring for a newborn. 🤍

A note from the founders:

We have a significant update to share, and we want to share it the way we always have. Direct and authentic above all else.

On June 1st, we are adjusting our prices for the first time since Restorative Roots was founded.

We have never done this before. Honestly, we never wanted to. We started this business because we believed every mother deserved access to this kind of nourishment, and we have spent years absorbing rising costs because we did not want price to be the thing standing between a new mother and real food. We held on as long as we possibly could.

Restorative Roots began in our home kitchen. Not a commercial kitchen. Not a funded startup. Holly was cooking batches of bone broth and kitchari by hand, labeling containers on a folding table and packing orders while our kids played nearby. Eric was building the systems and awareness around it. It was humble and hard and exactly right.

That scrappy foundation is still who we are. We just want to feed more of you while continuing to give back to the community we're so proud to be a part of.

What you have always been investing in, and what is not changing:
1. Ingredients sourced from regenerative farms
2. Cooked in real fat, never processed oils
3. Formulated with purpose, not convenience

You have been getting all of this since the very beginning. The new pricing simply catches up to what this food has genuinely cost to make for years.

If you are already part of this community, we want to say thank you from the bottom of our hearts. Whether you've gifted meals to someone else or purchased for yourself, you've trusted us with one of the most vulnerable and important seasons in a mother's life. You chose food that actually heals at a time when the easier choice was everywhere around you, and that means everything to us.

THANK YOU!!

With love and light,
Holly + Eric Stein

One of the easiest ways to make oatmeal feel more nourishing, flavorful, and cozy is cooking it in tea instead of water. ☕️✨

We steeped 1 tbsp of chai tea in water, then used that to cook our oats and WOW. The flavor is so rich, warming, and comforting. We used Organic Chaga Chai + rolled oats for this one and it turned out SO good.

Recipe for 1 serving:
• Steep 1 tbsp chai tea in 3/4 cup hot water for 3 minutes
• Strain tea
• Add liquid to 1/2 cup oats
• Bring to a boil and cook as usual

You can also try:
• Hibiscus tea
• Red raspberry leaf tea
• Rooibos
• Matcha
• Herbal blends

Flavor ideas:
• Cinnamon, cardamom, ginger
• Maple syrup or brown sugar
• Fruit, nuts, chia seeds, h**p hearts, coconut flakes

And for warmer months, you can absolutely use tea to make overnight oats too. Just steep the tea first, let it cool, then use it as the liquid base before refrigerating overnight.

This recipe is especially nourishing during postpartum, colder mornings, hormone healing seasons, or honestly anytime you want breakfast to feel a little more comforting. 🤍 Would you try it?

You are already making hundreds of decisions a day.

Is the baby hungry again? What's that smell? Am what I feeling is normal? Where's my water bottle? Did I remember to eat breakfast?

Your meals and nourishment should not be one of them.

Restorative Roots ships every Tuesday so you never have to open the fridge and wonder what to eat, what will help your milk come in, or what your body actually needs right now.

It is already done. Warm it up. Eat.

That is the whole thing.

Save this if you are someone who needs one less thing on your plate right now.

Should we launch a premium baby food?

We were just given an opportunity to buy almost brand new equipment that would enable us to make regenerative + organic baby food and bottle it in glass jars to be delivered frozen to your house. We would follow our same ingredient philosophy: regenerative and organic, protein and mineral rich, bone broth, no preservatives, etc, and it will taste good :)

This would be a monthly subscription.

Think:• regenerative meats + organs• mineral-rich bone broth• organic fruits + vegetables• healthy fats like tallow, ghee & butter• no preservatives• no seed oils• protein-rich, savory meals that actually taste good

Some of the first meals we’re considering:• Ancestral Beef & Butternut• Mediterranean Lamb & Lentil• Ancestral Mango Chicken• Venison Porridge• Coconut Berry Oatmeal• Beet Berry Bonanza

We are open to adding something if it's highly requested!

We looove the idea of doing this, but, we love lots of ideas, which doesn't mean we should do them all. Lol. So, before we pull the trigger, we want to know, would you be interested in buying baby food from us? Or, would you buy a gift card for a friend or loved one?

Comment “BABY SURVEY” and we’ll send you the quick 1–2 minute survey. Thank you so much for your input. It really helps us know where we can make the biggest impact.

With love, light, and a fertile soil for generations to come, Holly & Eric

Today is World Maternal Mental Health Day, a day to acknowledge that motherhood is one of the most profound, demanding, and beautiful things a person can do. And so much of what moms carry goes unseen. Let's celebrate the moms today, and everything they do for all of us. 🤍

Reheating your meals the right way makes all the difference.

1. We always recommend pulling your meals from the freezer the night before and letting them defrost in the fridge (set them on a plate to catch any condensation).

2. Once you’re ready to reheat, give everything a good stir. It’s normal for ingredients to separate a bit after freezing, they’ll come back together as they warm.

3. From there, transfer to a saucepan and heat low and slow. This is key. Add a splash of water, bone broth, or milk depending on the dish to bring it back to your desired consistency.

4. These meals are designed to be warm, nourishing, and easy to digest, so taking a few extra minutes here really matters.
