Goats can be used to clear or maintain overgrown areas, thick underbrush, and invasive plants. They can work in difficult terrain like steep slopes, gullies, and wetland areas. They excel in rocky environments including areas using riprap. They are great for controlling hedgerows between fields. When using goats behind cattle, sheep, horses, and other grass eating livestock in a pasture they will

eat the vegetation that they leave behind. Goats digest the seeds therefore halting the spread of unwanted vegetation allowing grasses more beneficial to other livestock to take their place. Goats work from sun up to sun down and only stop to chew their cud. They don't like being rained on so I leave a shelter on site for them, usually the same trailer that they arrive in. Goats do not disturb natural wildlife like a tractor does. I have observed rabbits and wild birds moving freely in and out of my goat pens. The fence that I use allows rabbits to run underneath.
