Margaret Ruth’s Clean Ingredient Condiment Creator

08/30/2026

Me. It’s me. 🙋‍♀️

I’m the one measuring, mixing, pouring, bottling, checking, cleaning—and probably doing a little math in my head while I’m at it.

Margaret Ruth’s isn’t a product I dreamed up and handed off to someone else. I’ve spent years with my hands in the process, learning every ingredient and every step that goes into every bottle.

I know what’s in it because I put it there.

Small batch. Real ingredients. Made by real hands.

And I wouldn’t have it any other way. 🤍

I'm going to tell you what's actually in the bottle. All of it.

Most dressings hide behind words like "natural flavors" and ingredient lists you need a chemistry degree to read. Gums, fillers, stuff that's there to cut costs, not to make it taste good. I don't do that.

Margaret Ruth's is small-batch, made by hand, with ingredients you can actually pronounce. You can read every single one and know exactly why it's in there. No mystery, no marketing math, no health claims I can't back up. Just really good dressing made the honest way.

That's the whole pitch. I'd rather you trust what's in the bottle than buy it once and never look back. 🥗

What makes Margaret Ruth’s special?

Maybe it’s that five years in, I’m still here—making it, blending it, bottling it, and caring about every single ingredient that goes inside.

There’s no giant factory line behind the scenes. There’s a real person who knows this recipe, knows these ingredients, and believes you deserve food made with intention.

Small batch. Handcrafted. Real ingredients.
And a whole lot of heart behind every bottle. 🤍

That’s Margaret Ruth’s.

What does it actually take to make a bottle of Margaret Ruth’s?

It starts long before the first ingredient goes into the kettle.

Loading. Unloading. Hauling ingredients. Moving bottles. Setting up my workspace. And then… we make dressing. 🤍

Five years in, and I still have my hands in nearly every part of the process.

Today, it’s Onion & Herb Vinaigrette day—and this is the part you don’t always see.

A whole lot of work happens before the dressing ever makes it into the bottle. And I wouldn’t have it any other way.

Let’s talk shelf life 👀

One of the most important parts of creating a shelf-stable dressing is getting the acidity just right.

With a pH below 4.6, the acidity creates an environment that helps prevent the growth of harmful bacteria and allows for a longer shelf life—without relying on highly processed preservatives.

And we don’t just guess. 🧪 Our dressings are tested in the lab at the University of Arkansas Food Innovation Center to make sure we’re getting the acidity where it needs to be.

A little science, a lot of testing, and a whole lot of care in every bottle. 🥗🫶

There is something special about knowing your dressing wasn’t sitting on a shelf for months before it made its way to your table.

Small batch. Hand bottled. Made with ingredients I believe in.

Made today. Shipped tomorrow. Enjoyed forever. 🤍

That’s the beauty of doing it by hand.

What is it actually like owning a salad dressing company?

I’ve been in business for 5 years, and what you don’t see on Instagram are the nights you lie awake wondering…

Am I doing the right thing?
Am I spending too much time working and not enough time with my kids?
Will all of this hard work actually pay off?

It’s hustling as a health coach and pouring into your business so you can grow it without taking on debt.

It’s making and bottling dressing by yourself for 5 years—believing that eventually, the hard work will pay off.

And you know what? It is.

It’s the Costco trips.
The math.
The networking.
The conversations.
The long days.
The uncertainty.

And ALL of that is simply the action of doing the next right thing.

That’s what owning a business really looks like.

Five years later, I’m still doing the next right thing… and I’m so thankful I didn’t give up. ❤️
