Neil here: Just so you know how much the wife and I fuss over the horses. She's out of town and one horse needs regular doctoring for a boo-boo. Kim's on top of stuff even when she's out of town for a few days...and I have a little fun with her.

Say hi to Fortuna! aka Tuna. She is our rescue from Bluebonnet Equine that will be trained and refined over the summer and available for adoption in October at Bluebonnet’s expo.

Tuna is 21 years old but you wouldn’t know it! She is spunky and athletic with a smooth trot and canter. She is very personable and will come to the gate when called.

She will have her own FB page here soon and I will share the link so please share with others as we want her to find the perfect home.

Look how great she is in the wash stall!!! My own horses don’t do this well!

Bella is patiently waiting for her friend Tilly to be done with breakfast.

These two are not friends when all the other girls are in the pasture but will put that aside when they are the only ones out there.

Well ranch life will throw some curve balls and yesterday was no exception!

Caveat: I’m ok in fact I’m doing great.

I was trying to pull a horse in for a lesson yesterday and we had a mishap with the rope and the 4x4 that resulted in me losing the tip of my left thumb at the knuckle.

Walker County EMS and fire were amazing! They did stick me on lifeflight for a ride to Memorial Hermann hospital where I underwent surgery. They were unable to reattach it due to about 10 inches of tendon being pulled off with it. (Graphic picture)

However the team was amazing down here. I was so disillusioned by hospitals after working in the last one for 15 years but this was a great example of not all hospitals are created the same! Exceptional doctors, nurses and staff! My trauma name is my new alter ego…Fucshia Diamond Alpha! 😂

I’m heading home now and my ortho trauma doctor is passionate and focused on getting me back on a horse SOON!

In the meantime horse training, boarding and lessons will continue with our great team! A special thanks to that team for jumping in and doing some uncomfortable things (like Kenzi having to pick my thumb up off the ground and bringing it in), catching the horse that got away in the process (Maya) and Mason and Sierra for holding down the fort and keeping the lesson going and caring for the boards. Thanks to Toni Gee my longest boarder for being willing to drive me to the hospital.

Special thanks to Neil for putting up with my dark humor and overall cheerful disposition when he probably wanted me to be a little more introspective during this.

My advice for all y’all…watch your ropes including lead ropes and drive right past any hospital that rhymes with Faint Pukes and head straight to memorial hermann!

Love all y’all. Now giddy up and get back to work!

Jax is the new guy here at the ranch! 18 year old in your pocket sweet gelding. We are going to put weight on him, get those feet shaped up and getting him in riding shape! He’s a former horse for an older man and has had little kids on him to. He’s going to be great!
