How Did We Get Here

Cooking has been, and always will be, something that I hold near and dear to my heart. When i was about 7 years old, my mother introduced me to the kitchen and it’s been over since. She started me with the basics; cook an egg. Sounds simple right? Yeah, it wasn’t. Who knew something that was viewed so simply, would actually become the bane of my existence. Cooking eggs actually almost ended my relationship with food, but I digress. By the age of 12, I was cooking an entire thanksgiving dinner alone because my Mom got called into work (yes, you read that right). As much as i loved to cook, the thought of going into a culinary career path never appealed to me. I was young and knew not what my future held. But after juggling every career imaginable, from cosmetology all the way to life insurance, nothing ever seemed to fulfill me the way cooking did. So, after I finally stopped denying what was always in my heart, I prayed, did some soul searching, endured some hard losses, and I found my way back to my passion. Cooking.

And thus, “Imari Eats” was born.
