I’ve been MIA and I apologize. I killed my sourdough starter the week of thanksgiving and kind of got in the slumps. I’m finally back to wanting to bake again. And don’t worry, sourdough bread will be back soon. For now, look at these delicious chocolate covered strawberry banana bread I’m cooking up right now! You can order a dozen of these for yourself! As of today, Sept. 1st, new cottage food laws have gone into effect!! With that being said I’m going to take some time away from baking and selling so that I can familiarize myself, update my labels and packages, and register with DSHS so I can meet all requirements. It’ll only be a week or two that I will be unavailable, but will update everyone when we’re ready to go! I’m excited to introduce some new products to my customers. I just realized I never introduced myself!

I’m Cheyenne, the owner of The Unpretty Loaf! I’m 28, married to my loving and supportive husband, Joseph, and mom to 2 amazing boys, Jaxson (7) and Dallas (1)! I work full time in the propane industry as a route coordinator/office manager for the past 4 years

I began my sourdough journey early 2024 and started my page shortly after. I came up with the name of my business because I couldn’t for the life of me get a loaf “pretty” like everyone else does. I try my best though and they’re always made right. I love being in the kitchen whether it’s making meals or making breads and a few desserts. I use sourdough discard in most of my recipes, so everything has a bit of sourdough in it. My dream is to grow my little side hustle and start a farm stand with eggs, jellies, jams, breads, salsa and other goodies. Support from my loving customers helps make that happen for me.

Momma got her weekends back, so now it’s time to get back in the kitchen!!

Winter season is always the busiest time in our family. Between holidays, birthdays, school and my main jobs business picking up, I had to take a step back from my sourdough journey because I just did NOT have any time at all to get in the kitchen except our usual meals. It seriously affected my side hustle. Thank you to everyone that hung around in my time away. I’m ready to get back out there and make ya some delicious goodies!!

I AM BAKING AWAY TODAY!!! I have way too much sourdough discard so I’m making my wonderful brown butter chocolate chip cookies. $10 a dozen pick up today from my house or tomorrow in Huntsville!!
