There is nothing better than fresh eggs, fruits and veggies! Brian and I together have a blended family of 8 children, 4 boys and 4 girls. When we moved it was so that our children could experience life to the fullest, we want them to use their imaginations, we want them to appreciate hard work, get dirty, and most importantly we want them to appreciate and love all the precious gifts God has to o
ffer them. Grand-Daddy built us our very first chicken coop with the help of a neighbor. We purchased chicks and began teaching these very excited children about chicken farming. We have a variety of eggs of all different sizes and colors, including blue, green, white, and brown eggs. As the kids grew it didn't take long to start growing our farm. We now have a variety of breeds of goats; Nigerian Dwarfs, Alpines and Lamanchas, meat rabbits, meat birds, horses and Walter our peacock. We are members of the American Dairy Goat Association and have registered Nigerian Dwarfs available for sale. Our chickens are grain fed and they also receive fruits and veggies from our very own gardens, bushes and vines. They eat grass and various bugs and grubs from our backyard, at night they are locked up securely to keep them safe from predators. Our chickens provide us with meat and eggs and are an essential part of our daily living. In the spring and summer you can purchase chicks. Our most popular are silkie chicks. Our goats bring many things to our farm. If ever you were having a bad day, sitting down in a hay bale with goats is better than any medicine. You quickly forget all your worries and feel relaxed and happy. Having goats has been the most therapeutic thing I have ever done. They are sweet, kind, gentle and funny. Our goats provide us with meat and milk in addition to being wonderful therapeutic pets. We embarked upon meat rabbits last year and are growing our small colony. The rabbits provide us with a high protein lean meat. They are tender and delicious. Some of our bunnies get sold as pets and some get kept to become mommas.
