One of my older horses has injured her sling in the pasture.....twice! She is now a partial stall horse and goes out on limited and controlled turnout so she doesn't further injure this critical structure. The injury shows up as occasional front leg "off" and a little swelling in front of her shoulder. My amazing vet diagnosed it the first time she did it and we were able to rehab and the mare spent many more years out. We just cannot risk a third injury so..... Indiana, Unkenruf's last born foal is happily enjoying her additional attention and the company of my elder Enrico Caruso daughters in the barn at night. She is an easy keeper and perfectly healthy..... I just will not risk her damaging her ligaments again.
