I must confess. I have a new love. Why I have never thought to make this before now I will never know. We have a bumper crop of ground cherries this year. We had so many volunteer plants I lost count of the number. The volunteer ground cherries are currently warring with the volunteer pumpkins for garden supremacy. But I digress. Ground Cherry salsa is amazing. The flavor is just unreal. I can't stop eating it.

When your husband texts you from the store to see if we have any homemade canned tomato soup, because he wants tomato soup for dinner and he isn't eating any "GMO crap" when he could have homemade. Well we used all of the canned last winter but it is tomato season so guess what I am making for dinner? Made with our heirloom tomatoes we grew this year, purple bell peppers, oregano, and basil from our garden plus some ingredients from other local farms, and some store bought. Fresh ingredients are always better.

Wait for it...one of the many reasons we let our jewelweed grow wild. Pollinators like these hummingbirds and honey bees love it. We also harvest it for salves, soaps, and body butter. Most of us are allergic to poison ivy and there is nothing better than jewelweed to treat it.

It is a little soggy out at the moment, but it is supposed to clear up. Come see us at the WV State Fair today in the Country Store. We are sampling until 7 pm. We also have our newest jam, Passionfruit. We have had many requests for this flavor and so we made a batch. Come see us!
