New Morning Farm

New Morning Farm Certified organic family farm in PA selling our vegetables, herbs, and eggs in Washington, DC for 50 years!

Jennifer Glenister owns and operates New Morning Farm which was founded by Jim and Moie Crawford in 1972. We are on 95-acres of wooded land and certified-organic vegetable fields in the mountains of south-central Pennsylvania. New Morning Farm grows more than 40 different crops, all certified organic, on 30 acres of cultivated land. Crops include herbs in addition to most standard garden vegetable

s. We grow veggies and go to markets nearly year round, managed by a team of 10 growers and apprentices, and employs approximately 15 folks at the height of the season. The farming apprenticeship program is well-developed after 50 years and has helped a number of aspiring growers to get started in farming.

The greenhouse plastic was due for an overhaul, so recently Caitlan, Michael, Baldwin and Arthur gave it a fresh covering. Their hard work has resulted in a tidy, tight-stretched new plastic coat to help the greenhouse brave the elements and soak up the rays! 🌞

In addition to strawberries, look forward to new items at market this week like organic cauliflower, our radicchio, and more. Read details in the newsletter: https://mailchi.mp/newmorningfarm/peak-strawberries

Farm life update: reptile/amphibian report! 🐍 Snakes and toads abound on the farm lately, especially black rat snakes: in tunnels, in fields, even climbing the side of the warehouse! Apprentice Ava contemplates kissing a toad, while Jenni and Apprentice Emmett do their best to get the snakes out of roadways safely.

2026 apprentice Kat here. 😼 Huge lettuce harvest this week! 70+ boxes of green butter, red butter, and romaine. 🥗🕺Plenty more greens and herbs from the farm too! The chive blossoms are my favorite.

The bee in the photo is pollinating green bean blossoms, and our cherry tomatoes are also growing fast. Hope to see you at market in DC this weekend!
