Morning milking storytime with Loren:
Aubre EX-93 2E came to Raylore originally as the result of a purchase by our friend Luke Alsleben off the Favorites of Fairmont sale. Since that time, we acquired part ownership of her and IVF’d her to Hulu and Alpha. Tracing back all the Excellents in her pedigree, including the start of the Apple cow family, there comes a cow by the name of D-R-A August EX-96 4E.
That cow is special to me in that I made her Champion at her district show in Spencer, Iowa. Whereupon I encouraged Dad and Mom to try and buy the cow. The price was more than we could handle. A week later, our neighbor and friend Lowell Peterson saw the cow and was a little more innovative in purchasing. Simply put, a syndicate was formed and she made the trip to live a ½ mile south of our place. D-R-A August was eventually consigned to the World Premiere Sale and the rest is history.
What does this tell us? As our dear friends Dave Bachman and Horace Backus would say, “Like begets like.”
Aubre has calves by Hulu and Alpha that not only look good, but they have that look about them that says, “They will be good cows.” Come and see for yourself or better yet, check out Lot 18, a September Alpha calf, on the Midwest Spring Edition Sale at Do - N - Joy Genetics, Monday, May 11. Or the Norse Haven Spring Fling in Decorah, Iowa, on May 15 when her June 2025 Hulu sells. Either heifer will make you a happy buyer.
