Wilson Tourism Hub is happy to announce our Czech Artist in Residency has arrived. Please meet Pavel Novotny. He will be working on art projects in Wilson for the month of July. At the After -Harvest Czech Fest he will be presenting his work at The Barn at the Midland Railroad Hotel Saturday at 2 pm. We'll keep you updated on his progress. Circa 1918: This Human Statue of Liberty is comprised of 18,000 officers and enlisted men at Camp Dodge, Des Moines, Ia.
Of the 18,000 soldiers pictured, over 8,800 of them were immigrants who came through Ellis Island.
Col. W. M. M. Newman, the Commanding officer said of these men: "They are my men and I will take a million more of them."
Adding: "I will make Americans out of them, America will make free men of them and they will make America free for even more to come and join my army."

Variety is the spice of life.
The thing about being in the restaurant industry that people have never seemed to come to terms with is how competition works.
Even in the same marketplace there will always be variety and with the *possible exception of the highest level of fine dining, you are rarely in competition for the same people or the same dollars. The result is that restaurant owners and staff rarely feel competitive with others in their market because they have different clientele and different offerings

This of course, excludes the "chicken sandwich wars" which have been raging for more than a decade where entire franchises have been born and died on a single menu item which competes for the same people and the same dollars...
