Reese getting her alfalfa fix after milking, along with her doeling that I’m probably going to hold onto because she is so nice conformationally. This dam line has proven to be very consistent with milk production over three generations that I have here. Reese is on the cusp of hitting Elite this year and is currently sitting at 94% (a production rating of 95% qualifies as Elite). Another production eval comes out in July, so we’ll see how she scores.

Reese has a 10 week buckling available (littermate to the doeling in the video). He’s chocolate and white if that matters. Swoon HB Reese’s Delight x Bit of Something Holy Cow (Sugar Moon, NC Promisedland and Amethyst Acres lines. His pedigree is in the comments).

The girls have been churning out the milk, so that means we are almost fully restocked again, which means we are almost out of freezer space again.

Central Texas here! Just because we live in the armpits of hell, with the brutal heat/humidity and blazing sun, doesn’t mean our goats coats have to suffer. With good nutrition, including feed/hay/minerals and fresh water, my chocolates and mahogany’s coats always look fantastic. A little splash of good genetics and parasite resistance also helps. This is our FF G***a after milking this morning. Her coat SHINES! 😍

We vaccinate all our goats with CD&T twice a year. Our kids are vaccinated at approximately 4, 8, and 12 weeks old. Today is their day for their 8 week booster. We also give Calf Pro to all kids on a daily basis, beginning at 48-72 hours old, to prevent coccidia. They’ll continue to receive daily Calf Pro until at least weaning age. When kids go to their new homes, I send Calf Pro with the new owner to give to them for about a week or so (depending on their age they may receive more to give for a longer period of time) due to the stress of moving to a different location away from the only herd they’ve known.

Reese! You outdid yourself this morning! Swoon HB Reese’s Delight milked out 3.55 lbs after only a 12 hour overnight fill! All my girls milked out more than usual, but Reese was the last on the milk stand and I had to use a second jar, so thought I would just weigh it to see how much more. Just wow for this girl! Too bad this wasn’t a scheduled milk testing day 😩

Reese does have a buckling available sired by Bit of Something Holy Cow. She also has a doeling, but after this mornings milking, I think she is going to stay for awhile 😂
