AI Diversified, Inc AI Diversified has been doing artificial insemination of cervid livestock for approximately 20 years. We are involved in collecting semen on cervid livestock.

Chelsie McKenzie is the owner of AI Diversified, Inc and a trans-cervical artificial insemination specialist with 21 years of experience in elk, red deer, whitetail, and—most recently—reindeer. We have been involved in research projects for the industry and ai work in China, Mongolia, New Zealand, Canada, and almost every state in the US where cervid livestock is raised. Ai Diversified has had the pleasure of working with the best in the industry and the finest animals in the industry, including but not limited to elk, red deer, white tail, mule deer, axis, sika and goats. FIELD NOTES: Maine Edition 🦌🌊

The last two Red Deer farms of the season brought me all the way to Maine — and this time I had a pretty wonderful traveling companion along for the trip. ❤️

We managed to take in some incredible views of the Maine coast, enjoy a little downtime, and then it was back to work.

And that last working photo? Red Deer #367.

367 Red Deer A.I.’d this season. A lot of miles, a lot of farms, plenty of adapting along the way, and some pretty incredible country.

And just like that, 2026 Red Deer season is officially a wrap. 🦌✔️

Field Notes: Wisconsin ✔️

Well, that was quick. 😂

About 24 hours in Wisconsin, Red Deer A.I. is done, and I’m already moving again.

Making a quick stop back in North Dakota to regroup, repack, and probably remember three things I forgot I needed… then it’s off to Maine. ✈️

Texas ✔️ Wisconsin ✔️ Maine up next. 🦌

Field Notes: Texas → Wisconsin 🦌✈️

Three days of Red Deer A.I. in Texas are officially in the books!

Days 1 & 2 came with a little chute gymnastics, some creative positioning, and another reminder that no two farms—or A.I. days—ever look quite the same. 😂

But that’s field season. You figure out what works, keep everybody moving, laugh when you can, and get the job done.

Day 3 brought another farm, another group of Red Deer, and a strong finish to the Texas leg of the trip.

Texas ✔️ Red Deer ✔️ Now it’s time to trade some windshield time for air miles and head to Wisconsin! ✈️🦌💗

Field Notes: That’s a Wrap on Elk Season! 🦌

And just like that… elk A.I. season is a wrap! 💗

A special shout-out to Lionel, my most trusted gate guy! Between my mom and me, we’ve been working alongside him for about 23 years. He knows exactly what I need before I even know I need it. 😂

And an even bigger thank you to the entire Jicarilla Apache Nation team! Many of these folks have been working alongside both generations of A.I. Diversified, and after all these years, everyone knows their part and works together like a well-oiled machine.

From getting the elk ready to keeping everything moving on A.I. day, there’s a whole lot that goes on behind the scenes, and I couldn’t ask for a better crew to work alongside. I appreciate every one of you and the years of trust, teamwork, and friendship. ❤️

Now I’m headed home for a week to catch up on emails, field work, and everything else that’s been waiting for me.

Then it’s time to load up and do it all over again…

Field Notes: Idaho → Colorado 🦌✈️

So long, Idaho! 👋 Colorado, here I am!

A little windshield time, a few more air miles, some pretty incredible scenery, and another stop on the A.I. season tour.

And in a shocking turn of events… I DID NOT NEED A STOOL TODAY. 😂

Apparently, I’m not short. The equipment just needs to cooperate.

Elk season is rolling right along, and I’m loving every minute of the miles, the people, and the work that comes with it! 🦌💗

Field Notes: Day Three 🦌

Three days into A.I. season and I regret to report that I have not grown.

The chair is gone, the tire has been retired, and today we graduated to a toolbox. At this point, I’m just seeing how many different objects I can stand on before the season is over. 😂

But the real highlight of the day?

I A.I.’d a UNIELK. 🦄🦌

And somewhere along the way, we spotted what I initially suspected was a pond monster.

After consulting my wildlife biologist, I can officially report that it was, in fact, an otter. 🦦😂

Three days in, plenty of miles ahead, and already collecting stories.

Man, I love this time of year. 💙

Field Notes: Improvise, Adapt & Overcome 🦌

Remember how I kicked off A.I. season standing on a chair because I was a little too short for the job?

Well… an elk broke my chair. 😂

So naturally, we upgraded to a tire.

After 22 years as a certified A.I. technician, I’ve learned a few things. Apparently, one of them is that Heartbreak Ridge had it right.

Improvise. Adapt. Overcome.

And add a replacement chair to the equipment list.

One broken chair, one borrowed tire, and we’re just getting started. Here’s to another great A.I. season! 🦌💙
