A HUGE thank you to Paperback Comedy for bringing an incredible night of stand-up to Oak Bay Brewery! 🎤👏
From the moment the first comedian hit the stage until the final punchline, the room was FULL of laughter, great energy, and some seriously funny people! 😂
A special thank you to everyone who came out, grabbed a beer, a dog, or a snack, and spent your Saturday night with us. You helped make this exactly what we hoped it would be. ❤️🍺🌭
We’d also like to thank Paperback Comedy for putting together another fantastic show and for making Oak Bay part of the Cape Cod comedy scene.

🌭🌊 THE LEGEND OF CAPTAIN GLIZZARIUS: THE GREAT SEATTLE TRADE 🌊🌭
They say Captain Glizzarius Augustus Weineraunt has traveled farther than any man should reasonably travel in search of the perfect hot dog.
But one voyage took him all the way to Seattle...
And what he discovered there changed Cape Cod forever. 🌭
Legend has it that the Captain stood beneath the mighty Space Needle when he was introduced to a hot dog unlike anything he’d ever encountered.
Cream cheese. Grilled onions. Jalapeños.
The Captain knew immediately that this was knowledge worth acquiring.
But Seattle wasn’t about to simply hand over its sacred hot dog secrets.
So Captain Glizzarius did what any legendary explorer, entrepreneur, and part-time hot dog pirate would do...
He made them an offer they couldn’t refuse.
One Space Needle.
In exchange for the Seattle Dog recipe.
Somehow, Seattle agreed.
And so the Captain returned to Cape Cod with the recipe in one hand and a very large construction invoice in the other. 🏗️😂
Today, we’re proud to introduce the delicious result of that historic trade:
🌭 THE SEATTLE DOG 🌭
A grilled Nathan’s all-beef dog loaded with grilled onions, jalapeños, just enough cream cheese and served up Cape Cod style at Oak Bay Brewery.
Was the Space Needle actually traded for the recipe?
Absolutely.
Did the Captain get a receipt?
That’s classified.
Did Seattle get the better end of the deal?
We’ll let you decide. 😉

We got a bit of a late start this brew day —but that just means you have a chance to catch El Zapparado NEIPA being born. 🌾🌿
The mash is going in, the brewhouse is working, and pretty soon the brewery is going to be filled with the sights and smells of a freshly brewed NEIPA.
Here’s the fun part…
You can experience it for yourself.

Ever seen hops growing on Main Street in Hyannis?
Take a stroll through the alley entrance at Oak Bay and you’ll find something you might not expect: real hop plants climbing the twine of our pergola, complete with cones forming right now. 🌱🍻
As far as we know, these may be the only hops growing—or that have ever grown—right here on Main Street.
So before you head inside for a pour, take a peek up.
You might just spot the same little green cones that have played a pretty big role in brewing beer for hundreds of years.

There’s a reason those big stainless tanks behind our bar are so important. 🍺
At Oak Bay, our beer goes from fermentation/brite tank → serving tank → tap without the traditional step of transferring it into individual kegs.
That means less handling.
Less movement.
Fewer transfers.
And ultimately, a simpler journey from our brewery to your fresh pour.
Our Paul Mueller serving tanks, imported from Holland, aren’t just something cool to look at behind the bar.
They’re an important part of how we serve our beer.
Six tanks. Six beers. And a whole lot less between the brewer and you.

📜🌭 A DISCOVERY HAS BEEN MADE...

This month, the legend of Captain Glizzarius Augustus Weineraunt has continued to grow here at Oak Bay Brewery.

But just when we thought we knew everything about the legendary explorer, sausage enthusiast, and self-proclaimed inventor of the hot dog... new information surfaced.

It turns out that a member of the Oak Bay Culinary Team may be a distant descendant of the Captain himself. 👀

Passed down through generations was what we believe to be a closely guarded family secret: Captain Glizzarius’ original spice blend.

After extensive research, a little culinary experimentation, and what may or may not have involved several beers, our team has recreated what we now call...

✨ OAK BAY DUST ✨

A bold, savory blend of spices worthy of the Captain himself.

And naturally, there was only one way to honor his discovery...

🌭 THE OAK BAY DOG

A grilled ¼-lb Nathan’s hot dog topped with beer cheese, jalapeños, and a generous dusting of the Captain’s legendary Oak Bay Dust.

Was this truly the Captain’s original recipe?

We can’t say for certain.

But according to one suspiciously convenient family legend...

“A great hot dog requires three things: bold flavor, a little heat, and enough seasoning to leave evidence on your fingers.”
