Horse & Hive Farm At Horse & Hive Farm we care for our boarded horses as if they are our own. We also offer a small group/private based lesson program. Happy riding!

One of the hardest parts of running a horse farm and lesson program is making the tough decisions when they are needed. Unfortunately, today was one of those days and we had to make the decision to say goodbye to long time lesson horse, Pancake. Pancake was well loved by all the students at Horse and Hive and spent the last several years teaching hundreds of people how to ride and enjoy horses. He is riding into the great beyond with no tail, as all the best horses do, and he is finally free of pain and able to relax. He will be missed 💜

Feel free to post any favorite photos or memories of Pancake below.

1am wake up calls aren’t so bad when you get to hang out with this girl 💕 Tater Tot is getting 4-5 different meds in her eye every 6 hours, even in the middle of the night. It’s a good thing she is so cute and so sweet because we are a little bit tired 😴

Tater Tot went to New Bolton Center for her surgery today. Everything went well but, unfortunately, the cancer had grown and spread more than we realized so they ended up having to take out 2 growths and her 3rd eyelid. While this was not in the original plan (or budget) she should make a complete recovery! She will be in a stall in the main barn for the next month so we can continue to administer eye meds every 6 hours but then she should be able to return to her normal life!

Our beloved Tater Tot needs our help and support. A couple weeks ago we discovered what appears to be some cancer in her only remaining eye. This obviously poses a bigger concern for Tater than it might for other horses because she only has the one eye.

Tater joined the H&H family in 2018 and since then has taught literally hundreds of riders how to use their body to support a horse, taken riders from their very first steps on a horse all the way through first canters, first jumps, and more. She has done so much for the farm and now it’s time for us to give back to her.

The surgery and follow up treatment are estimated to be around $3000. Tater will get the surgery and treatment no matter what but if you are willing and able to donate to her care we would be eternally grateful. We strive to give all of our lesson horses the best care but it definitely adds up.

If you would like to donate to her care you can Venmo the farm (Horse & Hive Boarding/Lessons) and just put in the note that it is for Tater Tot. Every dollar raised will go directly to her care.
