We got 10 new chicks this weekend! Breeds are Cream leg bar, Australorp, Light Brahma, and Amberlink. This puts us up to roughly 60 chickens! By the end of August we will have dropped 25 after harvesting the CCs.
Our next chicks will hopefully be some Ayem Cemanis, Indigo Gigantes, and ✨Jackraptors✨

I found out today that I’m the 15th great-granddaughter of King James IV of Scotland. For those who don't know how much I love Mary, Queen of Scots (my name and my favorite country, how did y'all NOT know 🤣) this means she is actually my 1st cousin (14x removed)! I paid a genealogist who found this info for me! Direct descendant to true royalty lol
This comes from my mom's side, via my Papaw.

This is what happens with mean ass roosters

Screamcicle developed a nice little attacking females habit. He got me real good one day when I was taking feed to the run. 6 holes that left me with 3 scars going around my knee cap. He got bopped that day. He didn't learn his lesson. Fast forward to yesterday (I tried to give him a chance y'all, I really did...) when I was walking out to my truck to get something. I went to open the door and he attacked from behind. Luckily I was quick and moved back before he sank his talons into my thigh. He did scratch me but no blood. He got his though. When I was done chasing him all over the farm, I went inside and promptly told my husband that the rooster needed to go TODAY.

Husband listened, Screamcicle didn't. See how this works y'all 😂 Husband=Livin and happy Screamcicle= freezer camp.

We don't keep no mean roosters around here (especially when they start attacking kids)

We were his 2nd chance home already, because he did the same thing at the last place and attacked the woman.

They're set up in the brooder now, with the big chicks heading to the barn to acclimate with the others. They'll remain there until it's time to cull. Peep the little brown "surprise" chick! I have 0 idea what breed it is, but I guess I'll figure it out 😂

Half of the CC chicks are being allowed outside, the other half will go out when the other crate is relocated. The larger chickens are completely disinterested. This integration process will begin four weeks before they are culled, and it will also make room in the brooder for the new chicks that are due to arrive this week.

It's amazing how fast turkey poults grow. I took this video a few weeks ago, and since then they've almost doubled in size!
