2026: The year Ezra becomes a big brotheršŸ„¹šŸ„°šŸ¤

A couple of very exciting announcements to kick the new year off!! We are expecting again!! I am due July 6th and we are so incredibly excited and feel so blessed to have another little 🄹

Secondly…I am officially SAHM! (Thank you, Jesus, for answered prayers and such a beautiful and holy opportunity). That being said, I will be able to be much more intentional with our homesteading socials. My goal is to shift our content (just a tiny bit) to include life as a SAHM. Not just homesteading content, but raw mom life too🄹

We are so blessed and thankful for all of you. I hope you continue to follow along and thank you so much for doing this crazy life with us!!🄰

Just a tiny bit of today’s harvest! There’s so much more out there but Ezra was sick of sitting around waiting for me🤪

We planted so many tomato plants this year so that I can make and preserve plenty of tomato products for the whole year. Pasta sauce, diced tomatoes, tomato paste, salsa, ect. Our plants have done AMAZING! This is the first year I have successfully started seeds and got them in the ground, and got fruit from them🄹I am so proud of these tomatoes even if it doesn’t seem that big to yall🤣

I also have tons of zucchini, peperoncini peppers, jalapeƱo peppers, and sweet banana peppers out there. All of my beans are a hot mess, though. I don’t know which are which right now and I need to sort that out soonšŸ˜…BUT lots of beans out there🤣

Between Ezra and I, those cherry tomatoes definitely did not make it back to the house 🤭

I’m baaaaaaack!!!!

I know…it’s been about a year šŸ˜… the end of my pregnancy was exhausting and then I took a while relishing in our new normal after Ezra was bornšŸ˜

I’ve been trying for the last month to figure out ā€œhow to come backā€ but a wise person (my mother, of course) said ā€œjust do it and stop thinking about itā€šŸ¤£so here I am!! Our new normal has been crazy and beautiful. Being parents is the hardest thing we’ve ever done and yet the most rewarding and better than we could’ve ever prayed for.

Enough about sappy life (for now🤪), our homestead is alive and well! We’re up to 37 chickens, 3 of which are babies we let a barred rock hatch (absolutely my new favorite way to have chicks around here. SO. COOL.)! We’ve got a couple chickens that we’ll process for meat since they hatched roosters a couple months ago. Our garden is thriving (didn’t get everything I wanted planted this year but I had a baby sošŸ¤·šŸ¼ā€ā™€ļø).

In sadder news, our sweet Bailey Boy (barn cat who was basically a lap cat that lived outside if you don’t remember) has gone missing. He’s been gone for a couple months now and our hearts are still healing. We’re hoping for a few kittens from Noah’s mom if everything works out right.

WOW, that was a lotšŸ˜…keep your eyes peeled as I’m getting back into posting every day (and probably multiple times a day) like I used to and hopefully a new YouTube video coming soon.

While we’re not posting Ezra on social media at all once he turns one (until he’s older and can voice that he wants to be a part of this), enjoy these new favorite pictures of minešŸ˜

🌿Let’s talk w**ds!🌿

I came outside to check on Noah and this is what I foundšŸ˜‚Apparently, this is how we w**d now.

With me being pregnant, I’m not able to spend nearly as much time out in the garden w**ding as I’d like to. This is just our corn garden and the rows are PLENTY far apart to be able to safely w**d whack it.
When it comes to my other garden, though, the w**ds feel like they’re taking over. My back pain has been pretty bad through most of my pregnancy (not complaining because, honestly, it’s been a GREAT pregnancy. We’ll talk more about it SO SOON!!) so for me to be down trying to pull w**ds is really hard on me.

BUT the garden is still THRIVING! The plants are healthy, producing, we have more spiders keeping the pests away…it may not be aesthetic and look beautiful, but for this year, it’s working perfectly for us.

Give yourself some grace, different seasons require different things. This season is requiring a little more rest than I’d like, but I LOVE our child and cannot wait to meet them. So I will rest, take it a little easier, and let the w**ds grow🄰

Our sweet girl is a phenomenal layer!!

Since Saturday (when I found 5 eggs), I’ve found one more each day! This girl was one of our first batch of chicks, they were all mystery chicks, and she is a Brown Leghorn. We are thinking about possibly get another couple of this breed, we love how prolific of a layer she is as well as being a sweet hen.

The other ā€œmysteryā€ chicks have grown up to be 2 buff orpington, 1 Welsummer, and 1 rooster that we THINK may be a Delaware but aren’t sure.

Oh yeah…we got more new chicks about a month ago! We got 3 olive eggers and 3 sapphire sky.

Unfortunately this last month with these chicks has been an adventure…a possum was able to grab one of my olive eggers (yes we’re sure it was a possum not a c**n, we have a camera on them).

BUT we took care of that problem and our chicks are 6 weeks old, feathering out and are happy, healthy, beautiful babies.

šŸ”First chicken mom failšŸ”

I was putting the chickens up for the night last night and figured I’d check around one more time for any other eggs…and this is what I found!! This girl has ACTUALLY been laying for about a week.

To say I’m bummed and feel terrible that she worked so hard for these eggs and we can’t safely use them, is an understatement. BUT Bailey the barncat is getting a few yummy treats out of it!!

We have one or two more chickens who look like they may start laying in the next few days here!! We are so excited to finally see eggs coming in!!
