Part 5 | Growing Up Stoller 🤎
Then came the next generation.
Glen and Shelly welcomed two children, Dylan & Sydnee and from the very beginning, the farm was simply part of life.
Like most farm kids, childhood looked a little different around here.
Weekends weren’t for sleeping in.
Summers weren’t spent inside.
There were chores before breakfast, irrigation checks, weeds that always needed pulling, trucks to load, produce to pick, customers to help, and plenty of “Come on, we need an extra set of hands!” And if you were lucky, a nice combine nap with Grandpa Stoller or trusted right handman - Brian.
If something needed done, everyone pitched in.
At the time, it just felt like growing up.
But tucked inside those long summer days, dusty boots, early mornings, and ordinary chores were lessons that would follow us for the rest of our lives.
Momma Shelly, made sure there was always a balance. Work when it was time to work but also space to laugh, play, and just be kids. Dear ol’ Daddio Glen, had a way of pairing every tough lesson with a steady reminder to keep your chin up, push through, and do things the right way even when it wasn’t easy.
Work hard.
Take care of God’s precious land you’ve been entrusted with.
Help your family.
Serve your neighbors.
And take pride in doing things right - even when no one is watching.
And one thing we learned early on, we didn’t get a free ride just because of our last name. If anything, it meant higher expectations, more responsibility, and a reminder that everything had to be earned.
Some of our favorite memories were made right here, working alongside the generations before us.
We didn’t know it then, but somewhere between the chores and harvests, we weren’t just growing up on the farm.
The farm was growing something in us, too.
Looking back, we didn’t realize we were learning how to carry on a legacy.
To be continued… ❤️
