We have a handful of really nice milking crossbreds to move within the next 2 weeks. Young cows fresh since the beginning of the year are open since I don't like calving over winter months. Dry cows and cows to be dried off are yard bred to Triangle Acres Aerosmith (Cadence x Music CD x TD). Early calves from this service sire are fancy and aggressive eaters. Really would like to see these girls end up milking somewhere they can reach their full potential.

I know it's been a week since this happened, but I have finally gotten my nephews involved with Big Hill Dairy! We purchased a February project calf at last Saturday's Iowa State Sale, Kruse Yaal Jeopardy Jazz, as their project calf. Her dam, Yaal Kruses Rosco Jenna, also sold, and is pictured (worth nothing, we did not bring her home). They're taking care of Jazz at their home farm and doing a good job so far! Dad and I also purchased a Torch daughter bred to Gib and due in June. Good weekend last weekend!

It's such a good sight to see this, on such a cold morning! Carolina freshened for the third time with a heifer yesterday. After she aborted her last calf I was worried about how she'd do. Not anymore. She's a really good cow. And this calf is 1/4 Swiss. Hard to tell right? Thankfully they're both doing well. Thanks to dad for watching them for me!!

On behalf of everybody at Big Hill Dairy, we wish you a Merry Christmas, Happy New Year, and happy holiday season. Our Christmas was very much white after a while month of seemingly endless rain. Here's to higher milk prices in 2016!

Our breeding objectives have recently turned down a new avenue. Our first HoJo (Holstein/Jersey cross) calf was born just over a week ago. She has a big future!!

I may not update this page much, but we recently passed 400 organic likes! I don't do any promotions or anything like that, but getting to 400 likes essentially by word of mouth is something I never expected. Thank you all so much!!!
