🍷 Winery Spotlight: Stone Hill Winery 🍷

Long before Napa became synonymous with American wine, Missouri was making its mark—and Stone Hill Winery was at the center of it all.

Located in Hermann, Stone Hill's history stretches back to the 1800s, when it grew to become the second-largest winery in the United States and earned international recognition for its wines. In 1873, its Norton was even named "Best Red Wine of All Nations" at the Vienna World's Fair.

Prohibition brought that remarkable era to an end, but the Stone Hill story was far from over. In 1965, Jim and Betty Held moved their young family to the historic property and began the enormous task of restoring its old-world buildings, underground cellars, and winemaking tradition. Their work helped not only revive Stone Hill, but also reestablish Hermann and Missouri as a destination for wine lovers.

Today, the next generation of the Held family continues that legacy. Stone Hill is recognized as Missouri's oldest and most awarded winery, earning thousands of awards while continuing to produce wines from Missouri-grown grapes.

🍷 Winery Spotlight: The Blufftop at Rocheport 🍷

Great wine, incredible views, and plenty of reasons to stay awhile—that's what you'll find at The Blufftop at Rocheport!

Located along the Missouri River just west of Columbia, The Blufftop is a trailside vineyard retreat and home to award-winning wines, a distillery, outdoor wine garden, event spaces, and luxury guest houses. 🍷 Winery Spotlight: Jowler Creek Vineyard & Winery 🍷

Great wine starts with taking care of the land, and at Jowler Creek Vineyard & Winery, sustainability is part of everything they do.

Owned and operated by Kansas City-born-and-raised siblings Jason and Kit Lacy, Jowler Creek is home to more than 3,500 grapevines across a seven-acre sustainable vineyard. Together with their families, they produce a variety of wines ranging from dry to sweet, all while focusing on caring for their land, people, and animals for generations to come.

Jowler Creek also holds a special place in Missouri wine history as the state's first winery certified through the Missouri Agricultural Stewardship Assurance Program across five categories. From reducing erosion and runoff to encouraging natural biodiversity, their sustainable practices help protect the vineyard while producing flavorful grapes—and delicious Missouri wines.

🍷 Winery Spotlight: Wenwood Farm Winery 🍷

From award-winning Guernsey cattle to handcrafted Missouri wine, Wenwood Farm Winery is a story of family, tradition, and a farm finding a new way to grow.

Nestled in the foothills of the Ozark Mountains near Mt. Sterling, Wenwood Farm is a fourth-generation family farm that spent many years as a successful dairy. Today, owners Laura Neese and Thomas Kalb are carrying that agricultural heritage forward in a new way—as a winery.

With more than 20 years of winemaking experience, Tom crafts a full range of wines, including hearty dry reds, semi-sweet blushes, sweet German-style whites, and more. The farm's former cattle barns have also found new life as a welcoming showroom, production area, and open-air pavilion overlooking the beautiful Third Creek valley.

It's a place where Missouri agriculture, family history, and winemaking come together—and we're excited to welcome Wenwood Farm Winery to Independence Uncorked on September 12!
