Ah the w**ds! We work pretty hard for those Instagram-worthy field shots. If you ever thought, “I could grow vegetables too if my garden was as w**d-free as my neighbor’s” think again. His garden is w**d free because he hoed and w**ded it.

Proverbs 12:11: “Those who work their land will have abundant food, but those who chase fantasies have no sense.”

Fantasy AI hopes and dreams won’t fill the fridge.

Grab a hoe or a Claude and get to work. You were made created to accomplish great things in the world for the betterment of mankind and the glory of your Creator.

Yes, it’s hard.

So what!

I’m preaching to myself here because it is hot, sweaty, buggy, and w**dy out here and sometimes my lazy heart wants to lay down on the job.

How do you find motivation to do the hard thing in front of you that you want to avoid?

It’s a HOT week out here! We’ve got to do our best to get protect the crops we will be counting on in the fall. Shade cloth and frequent sprinkler irrigation to cool down these lettuces and onions is the best we can do while we wait for the heat of summer to relent.

Summer CSA membership is sold out. You can sign up now for the winter CSA which begins the end of October.

You can also now sign up for the 2027 CSA to lock in your membership for next summer’s goodies. Check it out at https://redfearnfarm.csaware.com/store/

If you’ve wondered what our CSA is about, it’s about our members receiving a weekly box of Custom-packed, home-grown garden vegetables like this.

A lot of work goes into growing these beautiful vegetables according to nature’s ways before we finally custom-pack each box based upon each member’s selection.

Here’s a look at packing day when it all comes together.

That’s not sweet corn. It’s not even edible. It’s a cover crop mix including sorghum Sudan grass that we’ve planted to build up organic matter in a new future veggie plot. We don’t just enjoy growing veggies. We love growing all kinds of things in order to build healthy soil on our property. Next year’s tomatoes will thank us.

Have you ever eaten truly fresh produce? It tastes way better, doesn’t it? If you have a home garden or you are one of our CSA members you know what a truly fresh carrot tastes like.

Ezra was especially proud of this find today. And if he didn’t eat it out there in the field, that carrot will end up in one of his CSA boxes this week.
