Meet the Roaster: gloom coffee / Gloom Coffee (Roasting)

From gloomy Seattle, WA to (now) gloomy Indianapolis, IN, comes our roaster of the month of October. We have long admired founder Alex Sciarrotta and his work at Narrative Coffee – a fellow multi-roaster with one of the country’s most meticulously curated coffee programs. Joined by other industry greats Nate Reppert, Josh Modisette, and Brandon Paul Weaver, gloom seeks to further the not only the quality of coffee, but the quality of those who they work with.

We are honored to partner with a roaster with whom we share similar values and model of how we operate ourselves. It is such a pleasure to be able to share coffee and gloomy vibes with you too!

Currently, we are using gloom’s DOOM blend as our base espresso. A blend of a washed Mexico & Ethiopia, this coffee is reminding us of candied orange & speculoos cookies. On Pour Over, we are currently serving a washed heirloom varietal by producer Mekele Hemeda from Ethiopia, reminding us of purple fruits & jasmine. Coffees are available on retail as well.

Top Shelf Sunday / DIFFERENTE COFFEE | Café de especialidad Experimental Washed Pacamara

This Sunday we are exploring a coffee from famed producer Jhonathan Gasca of Finza Zarza of Huila, Colombia. Brewed on the AeroPress by our dedicated baristas, this coffee is reminding us of raspberry candy and jasmine green tea.

Back on the menu for the fall is our Bisquet, a Mexican-style biscuit that we griddle with butter and serve with house made apple butter from local apples from Doud's Countyline Orchard, Inc. Pairs excellently with any of our carefully crafted coffees.

Our kitchen will be closed Saturday 26 & Sunday 27 for a small break but we will have a small amount of pastries available.

Our coffee bar is open for regular hours and serving intentionally crafted coffee from ambersonroasting, DIFFERENTE COFFEE | Café de especialidad, Mirra Coffee, & Texture Coffee.

Meet the Roaster: Differente Coffee / DIFFERENTE COFFEE | Café de especialidad

Sourced and roasted in Colombia, with the goal of challenging the conventional and telling the story of coffee in the country is the drive behind Differente Coffee in Caldas, Colombia. This roaster and shop, that was recently voted as Colombia’s best coffee shop by The World’s 100 Best Coffee Shops, is helmed by Carlos Escobar, who placed 3rd in the World Brewer’s Cup in 2025.

We briefly met Carlos while on coaching duties in the 2025 World Brewer’s Cup in Jakarta, Indonesia, and again during World of Coffee in San Diego earlier this year. We are inspired by his humility, passion, and eagerness to cooperate and govern back to the coffee community. We are honored to partner with Differente as our guest roaster for the month and to able to share these special coffees with our own community here in Indianapolis.

Currently, enjoy a washed Gesha from producer Jhoan Vergara on Pour Over, delighting us with notes of red apple & jasmine, as well as a fun & funky experimental natural SL-28 from producer Edison Argote on Unique espresso, reminding us of blue raspberry & cherry slushee.

In a couple of weeks, we will be debuting rotating coffee mocktails designed by Amberson founder and 2026 US Coffee In Good Spirits (U.S. Coffee in Good Spirits) Champion Hugo Cano.

These drinks will rotate based on seasonal coffee and ingredients and are meant to be a deeper exploration into coffee flavors, as well as an encouragement to slow down and enjoy a unique coffee experience. These drinks will be available starting October 1st and will be offered for Dine In only.

Meet the Roaster: Mirra Coffee / Mirra Coffee

“Let it be bright, beautiful, true” is the mantra for founder Will Warren’s approach to sourcing and roasting, a similar ideal that we as a shop seek in brewing. We have partnered once again with Mirra to share their coffees with you as our 3 month roaster. For the next three months, enjoy their light roasts as prepared by our dedicated & passionate baristas.

Currently, we have Mirra’s washed Pacamara grown in Tanzania on both Pour Over and Espresso, reminding us of apple, dried fruits, and spices.

We are open Labor Day weekend but will be closed Labor Day Monday September 7th.
