Big Lug Canteen is a local brewery and restaurant in the Indianapolis Nora neighborhood. Big Lug's goal is to use the freshest, highest quality ingredients, many of which are sourced locally, in all of our recipes. Beers made with local honey, pawpaws, malts, and REAL Nora water (No need to manipulate the water. Beers are supposed to taste unique to an area!), and we buy local butter and flour to

make our bread in house. The menu is bar food driven around rich, spicy flavors and fun layered textures. Burgers, poutine, wings, hoagies, salads, charcuterie, soups, and more. Our servers are trained to help you pair any food selection with a great beer option or cocktail option.

An ode to a classic:

10 years ago, I was but a boy
With visions of brewing to bring people joy.

But what would we do when people got tipsy?
I thought fries might be nice with a wee bit of dipsy.

But let’s go further, right? It could use some whey
And those Canadian fries are pretty good, eh?

So we roasted some bones and some meat for a stock
Cooked it from 1 to roughly 8 o’clock.

The gravy was rich and just the right touch.
Better than store bought which doesn’t taste like much.

I stacked them together, and thought it “that’ll do.”
Food critics be damned, they don’t have a clue.

Paired up with a lager or pale ale or stout
The poutine was a hit and gained local clout.

“BUT IT’S NOT LIKE THE ONE IN CANADA I HAD.”
I simply responded, “Shut the f up, Chad.”

10 years later and over 100,000 sold
It’s better than ever, or so I’ve been told.

If you’re feeling a little down, not feeling 10ft tall
Come give this a try and give a nod to Montreal.
