So happy that I decided to forget about the laundry and clean up the Cottage Garden instead! I think the birds are also appreciative of the beautiful clean and trimmed Cottage Garden. Their songs were extra cheerful today. Just had to pause in the garden and admire the beauty and results of hard work this morning. I planted hundreds of annuals this weekend, and can officially say cottage garden planting is done! Can’t wait to see it all in full bloom. 🌸

Now, I must attend to some laundry, and maybe a quick run of the vacuum. Haha! 😂

Scenes from around the farm these days. Spent lots of time yesterday planting in the Cottage Garden and around the various show gardens. Finally today I will be DONE planting. (Except for the last succession of cut flowers which I’m going to start hardening off this week.). Whew! Seems like it took a LOT longer to get everything planted this year. 😅

Next week we have 3 priorities: LOTS of w**ding, dahlia field pathways, and planting the pumpkin patch. Hoping to also find time to get a few more Daylilies out back moved up front to split, replant and pot up for our LilyFest event in July. 🌱

Hope everyone has a wonderful Sunday and can’t wait until the farm is in full bloom again! 🌸

Today I’m hoping to finish up planting annuals in the cottage garden. We lost quite a few perennials over the winter so I may need to supplement with some extra annuals to ensure we have a colorful abundant garden this summer. 🌸

We will be open for visits exactly 14 times this season! We would love to see you at the flower farm sometime this season. We are only open to the public for specific events (u-pick, farm to table dinner, date night, LilyFest, and our garden party). Our calendar is on our website link in bio to get all the deets. We hope to see you! Just 30 minutes south of Des Moines. 🤩

Peony season is almost over and I’m trying to cut as many as I can to enjoy while they are here. You know what they say about peonies…they are here for a good time not a long time! 😘

Here on the farm we got 1.6” of rain last night. Over the past 4 days we have gotten 3.5” of rain. A good soaking for sure! Temps are super cool right now so I’m making the executive decision to wait until Thursday to plant out our hot summer flowers like zinnias and celosia. Starting tomorrow though, we are going to plant a row of flowers that can take the cool right now and be fine. Plus our verbena, solidago and a few other things will get planted now. This weather has set us back by a week or two compared to normal. But it is what it is. I’m just going with the flow! 🤷🏻‍♀️

Good news is our first official flower farm event isn’t until late June for our first Farm-to-Table dinner so the flowers will be here by then! We hope you’ll make plans to visit the farm this summer! Our flower farm isn’t open to the public except for special events. ✨

I checked our 2026 calendar and we have a total of 15 public event opportunities to visit the farm this summer (and a couple of them are sold out already). So if you wanna come visit Bochner Farms this season, be sure to check the calendar on our website (link in bio) and grab tickets now! If you are an email news subscriber check your email for a special offer that I sent out yesterday! 👏

It was a long weekend filled with so much work. Crazy weather, plants struggling, a miscalculation when measuring the dahlia field, and a to-do list longer than we can manage. I was feeling tired until I looked up and noticed the bearded iris blooming. Just unassuming there in a corner of our flower farm along the fence line. So beautiful. ✨

It reminded me that there will always be hard. There will always be someone else who looks like they are doing better than you. But I think it’s important to always try and remember we are all on our own path and all doing the best we can. And you know what? That’s enough. There is beauty in the hard. We got this. You got this. ✨

Happy Monday friends! Thank you so much for being here. 💕

Working on another Daylily garden on what I like to call our “South Lawn”. 😘 We think we can fit 70-100 Daylily varieties in this area. We need to use the landscape fabric (we burn holes for planting the Daylilies) to help with w**d pressure. Hopefully in 2-3 years we can pull that up and mulch from there on out. 👍

We host our farm to table dinners and date night under the pavilion so it will be such a nice view for our guests once it fills in. Planting in the new area begins today. Yay! 👏

Have a great day my friends! Hope you have the opportunity to get outside today! 😎

I am fearless. I am strong. I am resilient. I am hopeful. These are the affirmations I’m saying to myself so I can keep a calm mindset in spite of an extra challenging season so far from a weather perspective. Mother Nature has been behaving like Miranda Priestly in . Irrational, demanding, and downright rude. 😘

Anybody else having growing challenges this year? I know I’m not alone in this. We are doing our best to battle back and keep plants alive and happy. I am sure we will still have beautiful flower gardens, so all will be fine, but jeez! 🤦🏻‍♀️

We would love it if you’d make plans to visit the farm this season! Our 2026 calendar of events is on our website (link in bio). Gather your friends and come cut flowers, or enjoy a Farm-to-Table Dinner. Or make plans to join us for Date Night. We can’t wait for you to come see the flowers that will be blooming and experience the magic for yourself. 🌸

It’s just another manic Monday. 😘

How’s your garden looking these days? We are in the midst of planting allllll the things. Containers, annuals, raised beds, perennials, cottage garden, and show gardens. Plus we are working on planting the cut flower field where we will host our u-picks this season. Oh! We also are prepping for planting our dahlia field hopefully on Saturday. Lots of behind the scenes work happening right now. I’ll try and post some play by play info in stories tonight. Happy Monday friends!
