🌿 GARDEN TO GLOW | WILLOW
I love willows.
I have huge willows on my property, and in the mountains, willows have always meant one thing to me: water is nearby. They gather along creeks, springs and damp ground, creating shelter and food for wildlife.
And apparently, everyone loves them. 🤍
After a windstorm brings down a bough in my yard, I’ll often find the deer standing there happily nibbling away at the leaves and tender branches.
But willow has another story—one that reaches all the way into skincare.
Why is willow bark such a powerhouse?
Willow bark naturally contains salicin and is also rich in plant polyphenols and tannins. In cosmetic extracts, those compounds make willow especially interesting for skin that needs gentle clarifying and soothing support.
🌿 Gently exfoliating — helps encourage the shedding of dull surface cells for smoother-looking skin.
🌿 Clarifying — often used in formulas for oily, congested and blemish-prone skin.
🌿 Soothing — botanical compounds in willow can help calm the appearance of irritated, stressed skin.
🌿 Antioxidant support — its polyphenols help defend skin against oxidative stress.
🌿 Refining — by helping clear away surface buildup, willow can leave skin looking brighter, fresher and more even.
One beautiful tree. Food for wildlife. A sign of water in the mountains. And a botanical that has found its way from the wild landscape into modern skincare.
That’s Garden to Glow.
Learning why the plants growing around us have been treasured for generations—and bringing a little of that plant wisdom into the everyday ritual of caring for our skin. 🌿
