💍🐮 A WEDDING, A WEDDING CRASHER, & A BRAND NEW BABY! 🐮💍

Every once in a while, Caleb and Maddy manage to sneak away from the ranch long enough to attend a little something called a social event 😂 And this weekend, we had a pretty special reason to do just that!

Maddy got to stand beside her best friend Beka as a bridesmaid while she married her new husband, Basheer Jackson! 🤍🥹 It was a beautiful day celebrating the new Mr. & Mrs. Jackson, and we couldn’t have been happier to be there for such a special moment!

BUT… while we were off celebrating love, Ruby decided she had her own big announcement to make back at Mason Creek Ranch! 🐮🎉

That’s right — Ruby welcomed a beautiful little heifer calf while we were at the wedding! Because apparently, even when we try to take a day off, the ranch has other plans. 😂

Now we have a little wedding-day souvenir here at Mason Creek, and we think it’s only fitting that this sweet girl gets a name inspired by the occasion!

Apparently, we had ourselves a little steer escape situation the other day. 😂🐂

We’re still not exactly sure how our neighbor’s feeder steer ended up on the wrong side of the fence because, as far as we can tell, there’s no broken fence, no downed fence, and no obvious explanation… so we’re just going to assume he decided to put his jumping skills to the test. 😂

Caleb and Maddy teamed up to get him headed back toward home, with a little unplanned assistance from one of our boarder’s moms. And while we managed to attract the attention of approximately every neighbor within a five-mile radius, we eventually got him pushed safely back over with his friends. 😂

And honestly, we have to give a shoutout to our Highland bull Clyde, who helped do some of the heavy lifting and pushing on the cattle end of things. He was a HUGE help, and thankfully, we actually got footage of him in action. Meanwhile, our boarder’s mom was also a huge help, but unfortunately, we didn’t get any footage of her assisting us. 🤣

But after a little commotion, a lot of teamwork, and probably way more spectators than necessary, our runaway friend is safely back home with his buddies. 🐂❤️

Just another perfectly normal day at Mason Creek Ranch. 😂

We had such a wonderful time yesterday with the Rogers State University Women’s Basketball Team! 🏀🐴❤️

It’s always special getting to open up our ranch and share a little piece of what we love with such a great group of people.

A question we always get asked… What is it like owning a horse boarding facility?-

You never know when someone is going to show up at your house.

You never know when your phone is going to ring.

You never know when a text message is going to come through.

And you definitely never know when one of the animals is going to decide that today is the day they need your attention.

Running the Ranch isn’t a Monday-through-Friday, 9-to-5 kind of job.

There is no punching a clock.

There is no “I’ll deal with that tomorrow.”

There is no such thing as completely turning your phone off and forgetting about the ranch for the evening.

Because the ranch doesn’t stop just because you walked back into the house.

The horses still need fed.

The water tanks still need checked.

Someone might have a loose shoe.

Someone might have found a hole in the fence.

A horse might decide that the perfectly good stall door is actually an invitation to redecorate.

A calf might need attention.

The goats might be getting into something they absolutely shouldn’t be getting into.

Wilbur might have decided he needs a snack.

And somewhere, somehow, there is probably an animal creating a situation that nobody could have possibly predicted.

Then there are the people.

You never know when a boarder is going to call.

You never know when someone is going to stop by.

You never know when somebody will pull into the driveway and say, “Hey, do you have a minute?”

And at Mason Creek Ranch, “Do you have a minute?” can mean anything from a quick question about a horse to a situation that has you grabbing your boots and heading for the barn before you’ve even finished your coffee.

That is ranch life.

It can be exhausting.

It can be frustrating.

It can be expensive.

It can test your patience.

And sometimes, it can make you wonder why in the world you ever thought this was a good idea.

But then you walk into the barn.

A horse sticks its head over the stall door.

You hear the sound of chewing hay.

Somebody nickers when they see you.

An animal you’ve helped care for is healthy and happy.

A boarder tells you how much they love having their horse here.

And suddenly, you remember exactly why you do it.

Mason Creek Ranch isn’t just a place where horses stay.

It’s a place where people become family.

It’s a place where animals become personalities.

It’s a place where ordinary days turn into stories.

And there is almost always some kind of shenanigan happening somewhere.

That’s the thing about Mason Creek.

You never know.

You never know who is going to show up.

You never know who’s going to call.

You never know what is going to happen.

And you never know which animal is going to be the reason you don’t get any sleep that night.

But one thing is for sure—we are beyond blessed. Blessed with amazing boarders, countless animals, and a life that may be a little crazy, unpredictable, and full of shenanigans, but one we wouldn’t trade for anything! ❤️🤠
