The Battle of Skunk Ridge
July 3, 2026 | 5:15 A.M. – 8:30 A.M.

As dawn broke over Mason Creek Ranch, the peaceful morning was shattered by the first sighting of the enemy. Intelligence confirmed a force of six skunks had launched a coordinated invasion under the cover of darkness.

The first combatant was quickly cornered and imprisoned within the chicken coop, where it remained under heavy guard.

Meanwhile, three hostile forces occupied strategic positions throughout the barn, forcing the defenders to advance cautiously through the aisles, every step risking catastrophic chemical warfare.

The greatest challenge, however, lay within the feed room, where two determined skunks had barricaded themselves behind precious supplies. Negotiations failed. Retreat was not an option.

With conventional tactics proving ineffective, ranch command authorized the deployment of an unconventional weapon: Fourth of July smoke bombs. The colorful clouds rolled into the feed room like battlefield smoke, flushing the enemy from their fortress.

Victory, however, did not come without sacrifice.

In a brave but costly maneuver, Maddy drew the attention of the final holdouts, allowing the rest of the troops to maintain the offensive. She paid the ultimate price of the campaign—not with her life, but with a direct blast of the enemy’s most dreaded weapon. Though thoroughly skunked, she refused to abandon the mission.

By 8:30 A.M., the battlefield had been secured. The chicken coop was reclaimed. The barn liberated. The feed room retaken.

Casualties:
● Enemy: Six skunks successfully routed.
● Friendly forces: One ranch hand heavily scented.
● Morale: Surprisingly high.
● Ranch dogs and cats: Offered absolutely no meaningful assistance.

Thus ended the legendary Battle of Skunk Ridge, a three-hour campaign that will forever be remembered as the morning the ranch smelled like defeat… even in victory.

Ranch Weather Update: 5 inches of unexpected rain and feeding time has turned into a tubing adventure. 🌧️🛟😂

No days off on the ranch. If the horses need fed, we’ll find a way.

I’d say Caleb understood the assignment. 🤠🐴
