Let’s poke the Atkins hornets’ nest this morning a bit 🐝 Butcher Bert woke up feeling a little spicy!

Come on, Joe Joe…that’s the best you’ve got to fire up your team? You’re still staring at that 897 pound beatdown from last year, and now you think you’re taking the crown from the King of Meats? That’s adorable. 👑🥩

The official contest starts Tuesday! Bring your non-perishable food donations to Hometown Meats and pick your side: Team Joe Atkins, County Commissioner or Team Butcher Bert. The meat team is pulling out all the stops to keep Bert’s crown exactly where it belongs. But the real winner will be Neighbors, Inc. and the families in our community.

All jokes aside, let’s fill those barrels and blow last year’s totals out of the water! You can also bring your food to the Hometown Heroes Cookout on Wednesday Sept 9🥫🐝🔥

🥊 THE REMATCH IS ON! And Butcher Bert is ready to defend his title 🥫 🥊

Last year, you helped Butcher Bert collect a whopping 2,090 pounds of non-perishable food items for Neighbors, Inc., while Joe Atkins, County Commissioner collected 1,193 pounds. For anyone keeping score, that’s an 897 pound victory for Bert. That wasn’t just a win…that was Joe getting steamrolled by a canned goods freight train. 😂 🚂

Starting this Tuesday, September 1st, the barrels will be back at Hometown Meats! Stop in, drop off your non-perishable food donations and choose your side: Team Joe or Team Butcher Bert.

The reigning and defending champion is coming in hot! Bert has a few tricks up his sleeves, his eyes on another victory and no plans of handing that belt over without a fight. 👑🏆

The contest runs through Saturday, September 12, the Saturday of Inver Grove Heights Days. Let’s help our community, fill those barrels and see who takes home the belt!

It’s our 18th birthday! Where does the time go? Over the years, we have watched our kids grow up and bless us with grandchildren who have now become part of this family owned business.

For 18 years, we have been proud to support our community, sponsor youth sports teams, give back to our school district and help whenever and wherever we can. None of it would have been possible without your support.

From every steak, burger and brat for the grill to the hams at Easter and turkeys at Thanksgiving and Christmas, you have continued to choose our family to feed yours.

Eighteen years is a pretty big deal, especially for a small family owned business in today’s world. Thank you for your love, kindness and generosity throughout the years. We truly wouldn’t be here without you. ❤️ Here’s to the next 18 and more!!!

Have you tried the Bacon Wrapped Philly? It’s tender steak loaded with peppers, onions and mozzarella, then wrapped in Applewood smoked bacon. Oh man…can we eat dinner now???

Or try an Italian sausage stuffed mushroom. Toss it on the grill or bake it in the oven. Serve it alongside dinner, or add a little red sauce and garlic bread and make it the main event! 🍄🔥

Butcher Bert better get two hands on that sandwich before someone snatches it! Our brisket sandwich is pretty popular around here, and it’s back for the week.
