You can start to feel just a hint of coolness in the air. It’s subtle, but it’s there. 🍂(or am I just being hopeful?) 🙄😅

We’re still chugging along with 100° days, but that first little reminder of fall has us counting down to the break in the heat. Until then, you’ll find us out in the field enjoying cold watermelon, cool showers, and soaking up every summer evening we can.

Fall trail season, we’re ready for you. 🤎🐴

I didn’t think I could love Yzma any more than I already did… but here we are. ❤️

After working through an injury, today was the first time I was finally able to get back in the saddle and ride her myself. Up until now, my husband has been the one putting the miles on her, and I can’t tell you how good it felt to be back aboard.

This mare continues to steal my heart. We’re working hard to get her back in shape and feeling her very best, and every ride reminds me just how special she is.

Keep an eye out—Yzma will be joining our leasing program soon. She’ll only be available to the right rider, but trust me, she’s worth the wait. 🐴✨

Welcome back to Happy Hooves, Jesse & Buster! ❤️

These boys have been missed, and we’re so happy to have them back.

As summer starts to wind down, we can’t wait to hit the trails and enjoy everything the upcoming season has to offer. Happy Hooves has a lot in store, and we’re glad Jesse and Buster are here for the ride.

Welcome back, boys. The pasture wasn’t quite the same without you! 🐴 🌿 ☀️

One of the things I find most fascinating about horses is how quickly they can form social bonds.

This mare has only been part of this herd for three days, yet she’s already choosing to spend her time close to the geldings and engaging in friendly social behavior. Horses are herd animals by nature, and in the wild their safety depends on forming relationships, understanding social structure, and recognizing trusted companions.

When horses stand quietly together, seek each other out, or engage in mutual grooming, they’re doing more than just sharing space—they’re building connections and establishing their place within the herd.

It’s remarkable to watch a new horse arrive and, within just a few days, begin developing the relationships that make a herd function. Observing these interactions never gets old. Every horse brings their own personality, and every herd tells its own story. 🐴❤️

Farrier day for the new girl! 🐴✨

She was an absolute angel and stood perfectly for her trim. The only downside was that big, luscious tail kept getting in the way! 😂

A huge thank you to Randy for taking such great care of her. If you’re looking for a reliable, knowledgeable, and dependable farrier serving Citrus County and surrounding areas, give Randy a call. We highly recommend him!

So many wonderful things have happened this week at Happy Hooves! 🌈🐴

We were lucky enough to experience multiple beautiful rainbows, welcome a new member to our herd, and greet a new boarder to the farm. Moments like these remind us just how grateful we are for everyone who trusts us with their horses and supports our little barn family.

We’re excited to see what the future holds and look forward to making many more memories together.

Now for the big question… 🌈✨

What’s at the end of your rainbow—a pot of gold or a beautiful pony? 🐴💛

People often ask if getting a horse’s teeth done hurts them. The answer is no — equine dental care is an important part of keeping horses healthy and comfortable, just like routine hoof trims or vet care.

Horses’ teeth continuously grow and wear unevenly over time, which can create sharp points, hooks, and discomfort inside their mouths. When an equine dentist “floats” their teeth, they are simply smoothing those sharp areas so the horse can chew properly and comfortably again.

Most horses actually feel much better afterward. Dental care can help with:
• Better weight maintenance
• Easier chewing and digestion
• Less dropping feed
• Improved comfort in the bridle and under saddle
• Better behavior and overall happiness

A good equine dentist works calmly and respectfully with the horse to make the experience stress-free. Routine dental care is not harmful — it’s proper maintenance that helps horses live healthier, more comfortable lives.
