Wednesday, April 1 another great day at Shenandoah Valley Sportsman. Craig Stevens and I spent the morning with the crew pictured below on a chukar hunt behind my 3 English Setters. It certainly was a rewarding experience as we had the privilege to welcome a couple new wingshooters to the fold!! We had a blast and will look forward to seeing you again next season when it will be a little cooler. 83 degree temps make it tough on the hunters and the dogs but good humor and great shooting prevailed.

Another great day here at Shenandoah Valley Sportsman. We always look forward to days afield with Chris Newman and family. Thanks for allowing us the privilege to share a great day with you. Memories made!! After rooting through the ground level cover for minutes to find the quail the dogs knew was there with their staunch points, we were reminded yet again, “the dogs don’t lie”. When in doubt, trust their noses!!!

Great hunt with Joe, Matthew and Robbie. We had to battle cold temps, snow and wind.

Another great day with the fellas from Hardy County. It’s always a day we look forward to with the Wardensville Sharpshooters!!
At Shenandoah Valley Sportsman we always embrace the opportunity to assist in getting the youth involved in hunting. It’s certainly fulfilling. The innocent smiles you see, the trembling hands …. It’s so honest and REAL you can almost feel it all over again from your own youth. Thank you gentlemen for allowing Craig Stevens and I to share in such a wonderful day. Both of the “young guns” were successful in the field on this day. Perry got yet another couple of birds and Ashland got her first bird….. EVER!!
Thanks for a great day my friends!!! Always something special with Jamie, T.J., Brent, Tom, Ashland and Perry.
To all reading this, remember at some point we were all youngsters and someone had to take the time and care to ensure we had the opportunity to become active participants in a world otherwise filled with electronic distractions!! Good on you guys!!

Saturday morning, March 7 Shenandoah Valley Sportsman… the day broke with a dense fog and soaked field conditions, yet the parking lot was once again full with vehicles and the buzz of electricity that eager wingshooters tend to provide. Wet dogs, wet feet and wet pants legs seemed not to matter.
The group pictured below must have brought pockets filled with sunshine. They were gonna have a great time inspite of the less than ideal conditions. Great shooting guys!! Clay swears he was shooting shots shells out of his Browning A5. Now, I’m not debating it, but he dropped a few birds so far off that he had Craig Stevens and I both scratching our heads in disbelief.
Thanks for a great time guys. Looking forward to the next time. L-R, Cody, Joey, Clay and Dan.

What do you do on a gloomy afternoon in March? You spend it getting pelted with wet snow, wading through belt high, wet switchgrass with great friends at Shenandoah Valley Sportsman doing a little wingshooting. This crew brought smiles, good spirits, great shooting and a joy to be spending time with like minded friends.
As has oft been said,”getting older ain’t for sissies”. While there’s likely some truth to that statement, getting older sure beats the alternatives!! The crew pictured l-r are Kirk, Craig and Jarrett They know how to make a dreary day a day to remember!! Good on ya guys!!
Put down the phone, get off the couch and come join us at SVS and make memories!! Tomorrow isn’t guaranteed!!

Another great day at Shenandoah Valley Sportsman!! We once again had the privilege of sharing time with the Sherman crew. The afternoon weather was a balmy 68 degrees under an endless blue sky. Hard flying birds, well trained dogs, great shooting and camaraderie served to make it a truly special day. It’s always a memorable day when three generations share quality time together. Well done fellas!! Pictured below are C**t, Chris, Wayne, Trenton and Trent. Thanks once again for choosing Shenandoah Valley Sportsman to host your outing. We look forward to next time.

As a guide at Shenandoah Valley Sportsman we have the greatest gig in the world. We get numerous opportunities every week to watch our 4 legged companions do what they were born to do. It’s a well orchestrated ballet on paws!! They ask nothing but love in return for their efforts. We also get the chance to hang out with friends we’ve met through these endeavors. Friends that started out as strangers, an unknown client who have long since become cherished friends. Drum roll please… Enter Robbie Shaw the MD smack talking legend! I don’t know that I’ve ever shared more laughs with anyone. Through Robbie, we’ve met brother Steve, Barney, Mark. Matt, Chase who have all become friends that we get to share time with.
Today, we met new friends, Zach, Joel, Jordan and they became the focus of Robbie’s shenanigans. It was a great day fellas. Thanks for allowing Craig Stevens and I the privilege of introducing you to the team at Shenandoah Valley Sportsman. We look forward to seeing you again. Pictured L-R Jordan, Joel, Zach, J.R., Craig and Robbie.

Well, it happened again. Somehow the notorious MacNamee clan escaped confinement in Washington County, MD to land at our doorstep at Shenandoah Valley Sportsman.
Craig Stevens and I were once again lucky enough to share time with this crew behind my brace of English Setters. It was a glorious day!! We logged countless miles trying to pin running pheasants. Persistence and a 3 year old dog with a methodical trailing ability brought many pheasants to bag. It’s pure magic to watch Jaxx unravel the eroding scent trail ending with a staunch final point and flush!! Pure poetry in motion.
We were blessed with a crew that shot very well!! You guys are welcome anytime! Let’s do it again!!
Pictured are Randy, Brad and Wes MacNamee. Hope you guys were back in time for bed check!’
