Tubergen Dairy Farm LLC Tubergen Dairy Farm was started in 1982 by Dennis and Doris Tubergen. Tubergen Dairy Farm LLC is a progressive dairy farm located in Ionia, MI. Thanks!!!

We are a 1st and 2nd generation family dairy that milks 2700 cows between two dairies that are located in Ionia, MI and Hastings, MI. Our dairy currently milks 1400 cows 3 times a day to produce more than 120,000 pounds of milk per day, which is almost 14,000 gallons per day. Our milk is marketed and sold through Dairy Farmers of America (DFA) where it is processed by DFA or sold to other processors to be made into pure, tasty, and healthy products such as bottled milk, ice cream, yogurts, nutritional products, baby formula, various types of cheeses, and many more products. Tubergen Dairy Farm LLC began as a dream for Dennis and Doris Tubergen shortly after they were married. They decided to purchase a dairy farm and 20 cows in Rockford, MI in 1982 and began their dairy farming experience together. After farming on their 1st dairy for 7 years, they relocated to the dairy farm's current location in Ionia, MI. Tubergen Dairy Farm LLC has grown through several expansion phases since then, and now milks 1400 cows 3 times a day. Having had 4 children, Amber, Kurt, Todd, and Renae while operating the dairy, Dennis and Doris Tubergen also sparked a interest in dairy farming in their children. As a result, Tubergen Dairy Farm LLC is a joint partnership between Dennis and Doris, along with Kurt and Todd Tubergen, and Amber Alexander. Between the 5 owners and the 25 employees, including 16 that milk the cows on 3 different shifts, the dairy efficiently produces the most wholesome product in nature, Milk. Along with the more than 1400 animals cared for at Tubergen Dairy Farm, we also farm 2000 acres of land, which is solely used to produce feed for the cows, and heifers on the dairy. We hope you enjoy our page and are able to learn more about milk, and Dairy Farming through our page.

It’s been a busy couple of days putting some new bling on the ladies! 🤠🐄

Over the past two days, we installed 2,800 new monitoring collars on cows at both TDF Ionia and TDF South. It was a true team effort, and we appreciate all the help from our own crew, along with the teams from Afimilk and Michigan Dairy Tech. With 8–10 people working each day, we were able to get every collar installed.

We’ve been using Afimilk cow monitoring technology to track cow activity since 2008, and upgrading to these new collars is the next step in using technology to help us monitor the health, comfort, and well-being of our herd.

Stay tuned over the next few days for more photos and videos from the installation, along with a closer look at what these new collars can do!

We were honored to be recognized by the Ionia Free Fair at this year’s Annual Ag Industry Breakfast as a local agribusiness that helps support and strengthen both our local community and Michigan’s agriculture industry.

We are incredibly thankful for this recognition and grateful to be part of a community that values agriculture and the people who make it possible.

Supporting the Ionia Free Fair is something we truly enjoy, especially the opportunity to encourage and invest in the next generation through our local 4-H youth. Their hard work, dedication, and passion for agriculture are inspiring, and we’re proud to play a small role in helping them succeed.

Thank you to the Ionia Free Fair for this honor. We look forward to continuing to support the fair, our local community, and Michigan agriculture for many years to come

The heat index has been over 100°F the last couple of days, and that really puts both our cows and the people caring for them to the test.

Our TDF Ionia Head Herdsman, Kelbie Wilson, highlighted just a few of the things we do to help keep our cows as comfortable as possible during extreme heat.

💧 We make sure they always have plenty of clean, fresh water to drink.

🛏️ We keep their sand and straw bedding clean, dry, and comfortable so they can rest.

🌬️ All of our circulation fans run at full speed, and the sprinklers over the feed lanes and in the holding areas help lower body temperature by accelerating the evaporative cooling process.

🌽 We also make sure fresh feed is available and pushed up frequently to encourage feed intake and help maintain their appetite.

During hot weather, cows naturally eat less, and we do expect some loss in milk production. But our priority is keeping them comfortable, healthy, and well cared for so they can recover quickly once temperatures return to normal.

A little extra care goes a long way during days like these. Thanks to our hard working employees that have continued to stay focused during the heat to care for all of the ladies at both TDF Ionia and TDF South.
