Before settling down, I was pretty busy doing all the things I ever wanted to do. I didn’t get married until I was almost 35, and my husband already had three children.
Then we went on to have three more children in three years.
I seriously can’t tell you what that season of life was like except maybe… getting hit in the face with a brick. 😂 Repeatedly.
When we got married, my husband carried around chicken nuggets in the diaper bag. He made muffins from those little packets full of hydrogenated oil and BHT. They drank knock-off sugar-free drink mixes loaded with aspartame because, at the time, we thought sugar-free meant “better for you.”
Then Chef Momma came along and started overhauling the pantry.
Nobody was happy about it. 😂
But here was the problem: 16 years ago, there weren’t many quick pantry foods made with ingredients I actually wanted to feed my family. There was no packet I could grab, add a few simple ingredients to, and have a real, healthy meal on the table in minutes.
And y’all, I was drowning.
Working full-time and raising a house full of kids is HARD. Trying to make sure everybody eats well—at least 80% of the time—makes it even harder.
Fast forward all these years.
The first time I finished developing one of our Primal Bayou mixes, walked into my own kitchen, grabbed a packet and made supper for my own family…
It hit me.
This was exactly what I needed 16 years ago.
I had a real, healthy supper on the table that my kids absolutely devoured—in less time than it would have taken me to order a pizza.
