Homebrew Announcement! Ongie Manor will be pouring two new beers at today's HomeBrewFest. Here are the deets:

1) "Trundler Race" -- Ameri-NZ Pale Ale (5.8% abv)
This beer started with Big Grove's Arm Race wort, and instead of using Citra hops like the traditional Arms Race, this beer features homegrown Cascade hops and NZ-grown Nelson hops. FYI, trundlers are shopping carts in New Zealand and it might be fun to race them.

2) "The Weather Outside is Hazy" -- NE IPA (7.7%)
This beer follows the new trend of IPAs being hazy, juicy, but not very bitter. It features El Dorado, Mosaic, Citra, and homegrown Cascade hops, as well as 3 pounds(!!) of oats.

You're looking at a pale ale that was made with Big Grove's Arm Race wort but with my own selection of hops (it's a surprise). Twenty one other homebrewers took home wort and made their own customized creations. The results will be available for tasting at a homebrew event on Jan. 20th. Stay turned for more details!

I'm back!

Introducing: Nigel, an Extra Special Bitter. I brewed it in honor of my recent journey across the pond.

Hey, I made my first stout the winter! I think it will be a hit, so it gets the name: "Hall and Oatsmeal Stout".

I took full advantage of the warmish weather on Tuesday and brewed up my first Belgian Tripel. This one features orange peels for extra citrusy flavor and should clock in around 10% ABV.

Thanks to everyone who was able to make it to the Homebrew Celebration yesterday! It was great getting to taste beer from so many talented local homebrewers. We are already planning the next event, so stay tuned for more homebrew news.

Are you stopping by the Homebrew Celebration this Saturday? Well, these growlers will be pouring most of the OMBC beer (there will also be a few bottles). Thanks again to James Davies for creating the sharp logo!

Tried my first glass of the Black IPA! Now I can't wait to share it with everyone.

I just kegged my Black IPA! It came in at 7% abv and the citrusy hops work well with the dark malt. I'll definitely be bringing this one to the Homebrew Celebration on the 16th.

I almost forgot to mention that I brewed up an Oatmeal Stout on Monday.
