Have you heard? There’s an unfortunate but continuous growth of bird flu cases in Iowa, and it looks like the avian flu is here to stay for the summer. As the virus creates pressure on the poultry industry, it will eventually create supply shortfalls. Add this to high inflation, high feed prices, and supply chain issues…things aren’t looking too hot. The cost of all meat is looking to stay high and likely climb over the summer months.

Some food for thought - while the cost of purchasing and processing a whole or half hog is a large commitment upfront, it undoubtedly saves a family money over the lifetime of the purchase.
