Agreed the rain isn’t super ideal for weekend activities BUT the rainbow sightings have been stellar. Plus the birds don’t seem to mind as we have all of the eggs. Pullet eggs (from young hens), large + jumbo eggs AND duck eggs are heading to Stowe Farmers Market tomorrow. Dance, frolic or mosey on over!

Yesterday marked our first chicken harvest. The folks over at Border Hill Farm - Mobile Poultry Processing turned it into a hassle free day (thank you!). We got chores done early and moved the next batch of birds out onto pasture.

We are currently collecting 450 eggs a day. That’s 3,150 weekly and our new flock hasn’t started laying yet. We send out eggs to our farm stand, farmers markets, retail partners and whole sale accounts regularly. So you could say we spend a big chunk of time washing and packing these golden nuggets.

What started off as a kitchen sink washing station later evolved into the greenhouse setup. We can happily say we have upgraded to our most efficient setup to date. Our shed had a glow up and is now our stand alone egg processing facility. Where we wash, sort and pack at a fraction of the time.

This is such an exciting improvement that will gift us more free time. Dare I say more lake time! Only time (weather) will tell.
