Hi everyone!
We had such a fun day at the farm yesterday. Our great niece Sawyer came to spend the day with us! My goodness, does she love the animals!❤️ She spoiled the goats, lambs and ponies with treats, helped to cool off the alpacas with a little hose shower and carried on conversations with the donkeys all day🎶🎶‼️
Sawyer also entertained everyone by blowing bubbles for them! They were definitely curious about the bubbles!!💦
It won’t be long and Sawyer will be leading farm tours and doing chores! 😉🤠
We all slept good last night!🥰

Yesterday was a busy one here at the farm. Shoppers, farm tours, & we sold all of the alpaca beans we had bagged up and ready to go plus a few bags of our new “Woollets” fertilizer pellets. We will be bagging up more alpaca beans today so if you didn’t get yours yet and are getting ready to do some planting give us a call or send a message to set up a time to come out. This is a great, all natural fertilizer for your vegetables or flowers. Just a few of the Woollets will feed your plants through the growing season plus help to retain moisture around the roots.

Sweet Memories Farm is located at 388 Bates Amasa Rd in Iron River, MI. Call us at 906-284-2363. Have a great day!!!

ATTENTION ALL GARDENING ENTHUSIASTS!!!
THE ALPACA POO IS READY FOR YOU!!

What’s the scoop on alpaca p**p? In the gardening world alpaca beans are often referred to as “black gold” for healthy soil. Unlike many manures, they contain balanced nitrogen levels that won’t burn your plants, even when placed right at the roots. They’re also rich in magnesium, which encourages blossoms (& more blossoms mean more fruits, vegetables, & flowers). Even better, they’re virtually odorless and don’t contain e-coli, making them a clean, safe choice for your garden & plants.

Alpaca beans can be used in a variety of ways. You can till them into your soil, drop them directly into planting holes for a slow, time-release effect, or use them as a side dressing for your favorite perennials. Scattering them in your garden and covering with mulch helps speed up decomposition while keeping moisture in the soil.

The beans also can be put in a burlap sack and soaked in water to make a very effective “tea” for watering your plants on a regular basis.

We have 5 gallon sacks available at $9 each at the Sweet Memories Farm store. We are located at 388 Bates-Amasa Rd, Iron River, MI.
Our farm store is open Fridays & Saturdays 10-4 or call 906-284-2363 and we will meet you to pick up your black gold!

EXCITING FARM NEWS! There are two new additions to the farm this spring and we can’t wait to share them with our followers & visitors.

Introducing La-T-Da & Luka S Black. These two are twin brother & sister Babydoll lambs born on April 2nd. Babydolls are a smaller, more compact breed of sheep that are known for having a permanent little smile on their face and fun & friendly personalities. We did not get to bottle raise these two cuties so they are still missing their real momma a little bit but they’re warming up to us (their new mommas) quickly and getting to know the rest of the farm family.

La-T-Da is the white with spots little girl. She is so sweet and a little more outgoing than her brother. She is also a little bigger & quite a bit louder. Clare has been holding on to the name for a long time just waiting for the right little girl to come along to give it to and this one feels like the perfect fit.

Luka S Black is indeed black & has the cutest little permanent smile on his face. His name was a little harder to come up with but we think it fits him just fine. He’s still a little shy but is warming up to us more every day. He has a much softer & shorter little Baa.. than his sister and I know this because I heard it a lot on our 8 hour trip home.

We hope everyone gets a chance to come out to the farm to meet Lottie & Luka and spend some time with the rest of our farm family this summer. Please visit our website at sweetmemoriesfarm.com to see more of what the farm has to offer. Our farm tours are by appointment only & you can fill out the form to request a tour on the website or by messenger here. You can also call Clare at (906) 284-2363 with questions or to set up a tour. Our farm store is open every Friday & Saturday from 10-4 or by appointment. The farm is located at 388 Bates-Amasa Rd, Iron River, MI 49935

Hi again, we wanted to share a video of one of the alpacas getting sheared. (I can’t do photos and videos together on the farm page). It’s a little mesmerizing watching the fiber roll off of them while they are being sheared!

Hi everyone! We wanted to let you know that sweet Memories Farm store is open today and tomorrow (Friday and Saturday May15 and 16) from 10 am to 4 pm. All the animals are out in the field today, so you can come out and see them and talk with them! This past Wednesday was shearing day for the alpacas, so you will now see some very long and lean girls! (Wish a haircut did that for me!😂😂) After that chilly couple weeks, they are all VERY grateful for the blue skies and warm sunshine….especially with a fresh haircut! A couple pictures below to show a few before and after looks. Their fiber grows to be around 3”-4” long. Now it’s very short so they can tolerate the heat of summer! We will use their fiber to make yarn for knitting, and also will have rug yarn made so we can start weaving rugs here at the farm! So excited for that! The fiber mills are extremely busy, so it will take about 7-9 months for the fiber to be processed. It’s kinda like Christmas when the fiber comes back to you transformed into the yarn!!
This week it is the sheep’s turn for a haircut!🐏

We have a lot of fun and creative gift ideas here at the store, so we hope you stop out to see us and the animals!

We are located at 388 Bates-Amasa Rd. Iron River, MI
Look for the farm banner and huge WELCOME banner.
Thank you!
