The Iron County Museum has a big piece of Baumgartner history that came from right where our farm is located. Back when mines were thriving and there were people in the area we had more schools in Iron County alone than there are highschools in the UP today

This past year has been an amazing journey for the farm, we sold hay to the circus when it came through town, brought our animals out for the nursing home, did a petting zoo at tractor supply, and provided beef to some very happy customers but to me the coolest thing to happen is we aquired a very unique hay client we delivered to today. Hes got Elk, Fallow Deer, and these weird sheep things but they love the hay and its so cool checking out the animals every trip

Its amazing what healthy cows can withstand when they have proper nutrition and fresh water daily. My cows refuse to use any form of shelter or cover (you can clearly see the trees right behind them and they've got a few different options for shelter). So last night as the storm started getting worse and they were still just hanging out in the field we rolled out a round bale and situated some round bales as a windbreaker and checked on them every couple hours to make sure the babies stayed next to the moms and didn't wander. Eating hay provides them energy and raises their internal body temp as it breaks down and the snow on their back acts as insulation so believe it or not they're not even the cold in this windy weather unlike me.
