"I can barely scratch the surface describing what I learned this summer, but my biggest takeaway is that when you focus on the challenge in front of you, a team can solve even the problems that seem impossible."
As a Chemical Engineering student at the University of Arizona, Ginger Minderman spent the summer supporting the North City Pure Water Program in San Diego. Working alongside field and office teams, Ginger gained experience in commissioning, system startup, troubleshooting, and coordinating activities across multiple disciplines.
Through the fast-paced environment of a major infrastructure project, Ginger developed confidence in solving problems on the fly, communicating with vendors and project teams, and understanding how mechanical, electrical, and chemical systems come together to start up complex facilities.
Her advice to future interns: Take it day by day. Ask questions. Seek out opportunities that interest you. The more involved you are, the more you'll learn.
Thank you, Ginger, for your curiosity, initiative, and willingness to tackle new challenges. We look forward to seeing where your engineering career takes you.
