Slowly been replacing our grass lawn with clover. Last year’s seeding has done well. Clover doesn’t grow as tall as grass, requires less mowing, it’s great for pollinators, and the bunnies love it. I love bunnies. It’s more work to block off garden areas but- okay. But I also have a Lola. Lola loves chasing bunnies. She has never caught one. This is more for play.

More bunnies, more chasing. More digging. More mud. A more muddy Lola…. More baths for Lola. Heaven help me. This is the 5th time in two weeks.

Catchw**d bedstraw: cleavers, goose grass, spring-cleavers, scratch-grass, grip-grass, catch-w**d, bedstraw, white hedge, valiant's cleavers…. Whatever you might call this w**d, I’m happy that it has taken a liking to one of my raspberry beds.

Tonight’s I prepped a cleavers tincture to help with lymphatic drainage.

Finding wood sorrel in the front of the school during art club pickup made my weird, plant loving little heart very happy. Wood sorrel, aka oxalis, tastes lemony and helps with nausea, cramping, and even fever. It’s very high in vitamin C and was used, historically, to treat scurvy. And you thought it was just a w**d.

Sadly, the storms this past week collapsed our greenhouse. Structurally the winds bent and warped the metal beyond repair. No amount of hammering or bending back was sufficient.

I’m heartbroken, but still hopeful. And taking this one as a lesson- build greenhouses in areas without straight line winds.

Spending the last part of spring break pulling everything out and carefully scrapping all parts. And, optimistically painting a mental picture of new things to come. ❤️🤞✌️

All that insulating and the hot water and hot stone runs to the coop are paying off. The girls are still laying and it’s currently 14° outside. It was -1° when Mr. Gathering Rust went off to work this morning. Happy chickens = happy momma.
